Improving body positivity?

Has anyone got any tips on improving rock bottom body image?

I’m 5’3, 14 and a half stone and a size 18/20.

I absolutely HATE my body. To the point I’m still wearing my maternity clothes from having my daughter almost 5 years ago as they don’t dig in and hide my fat.

I hate my love handles, my belly which sags so low it hides my c section scars, my wobbly thighs which rub, my saggy boobs, my wobbly arms and my double (maybe even triple) chin.

My 11 year son old called me fat the other day and my husband agreed. I was 8 stone and size 8 when we got together 15 years ago.

I go through a cycle of dieting and extreme exercise and when it doesn’t work I go back to normal and end up putting more weight on.

I just feel so fat and disgusting and don’t know how to get past this.

I feel for you so much. I gave up sugar and it changed my life - it stops you feeling hungry. The first week is hard and I needed painkillers for the headaches but pushed through and ate berries and dropped lots of weight as a result.

Hi Dumbledork, I think the first thing to do is have a word with your partner and get him to explain to your son how hurtful such comments are.

I had the same problem after ds was born. It really hit my confidence. Plus I didn’t have much spare time (single mum).
I found a rugby club near work - very quiet at lunchtime - and did four walk/jog circuits of the pitch twice a week. And I tried to give up biscuits - not very successfully.
The jogging worked. It helps to know when you can’t jog any further you just walk, and don’t do more than 4 circuits of the pitch until it starts to feel a bit easier. When I could jog most of it and walked less, I did an extra circuit in my 30 mins.
I lost about a stone in the first summer.

Believe me, I’ve told him. He’s said if I was that bothered I’d do something about it. But what he doesn’t seem to get is the more they make nasty comments (which I think are meant to spur me on to do something) then the more I want to eat my feelings hmm

I’m stunned that your other half said that. That’s incredibly rude and not very supportive. To loose weight you need to be in a good frame of mind or you will fail instantly.
I suggest you start by making small changes first. I’m not a big lover of strict diets. They set you up to just think about food you can’t have and u then crave them.
Start small and then see what happens. No matter what, how quick you lose or how much you lose. It’s all working towards the right direction. Even if for the first little while it makes you think about what ur eating and putting in ur mouth.

Maybe for the first week. Plug everything you are eating into an app like the fitness pal. It will tell you how many calories your actually eating and u can see where u can improve.

Do this for yourself and no one else. Xxxx

I really feel for you, I know its not for everyone but you should consider slimming world. There are tons of foods that you can eat as much as you want of, and your still allowed treats. I think if you eat a lot then calorie counting and severe restriction feels like hell. Don’t worry about starting exercise just yet, get the diet down first, what you eat is 90% of your weight loss anyway.
Also your husband is a shit !

Buy the book\CDs and DVDs of Paul Mackenna's (I Can Make You Thin) way of eating. I don't like the title it should be slim not thin who wants to be a skelington? grin , it's not a diet, it changes your mindset helps you to ACCEPT your body, no self hate!!! Your OH should be able to help you with it and do it himself your ds too!

People much bigger than you lose their weight and maintain with it! It's worth a try. I lost 3 stone with it and have maintained for years.

I'm not selling it by the way!! It's just the best because it encourages mindful eating, no calorie counting, starvtion, or diet foods,just healthy eating but you ~MUST eat when you're hungry slowly and chew properly, not standing up or in front of a screen! Then your stomach learns when you are full and you must stop. Till you feel hungry again

. It's great because if you have to go out or you forget for day or a week!! You just start again!!!!

Aw dumbledork I feel your pain. Back in January I hit 11 stone 12 lbs (I’m 5ft 2). I tried intermittent fasting and I haven’t looked back. I’m over 2 stone down and still going. I’ve had blips, and I still drink twice a week and have a takeaway. It’s the only thing that’s worked for me. I also walk a lot more.
