So this is the thing , I'm miserable because I'm overweight but I'm over weight because I'm miserable . I eat rubbish to make myself feel better , but then that makes me feel more rubbish afterwards because I get bigger !

I'm really struggling to find the willpower to lose weight . I've totally gone off vegetables and fruit recently and I have lost love for food. I don't no what to do ! Any tips would be appreciated .

thanks xx

Can you make one small change to your diet at a time?

Perhaps start each day with a super healthy breakfast and just do that until you're in the habit.

Then perhaps reduce snacking or replace with healthier choices.

And so on.

I was just like that. It's completely psychological

You have to step away from food being a treat for feeling shit. This took me ages to break. When you feel crap you need to do something else. With the weather being so lovely, go for a walk. Learn what types of birds there are and start looking for them (or trees, plants, anything that takes your fancy).

I also started telling everyone I was vegan and then I couldn't have the snacks at work that everyone brought in :)

Meal plan ruthlessly and get rid of every single snack in your house. Count your calories and do your exercise.

I know exactly what you mean. I did this and eventually lost 2.5 stone. It was so so hard and I still have days (like today) where I eat sweets and crisps but by and large, I eat now only when I need it, not when I'm being a porker!

Also if you have gone off food, go for the meal replacement stuff like Huel or the weight loss one recommended by the Nhs. Then you don't even have to think about what you're eating!

Thanks for the advice everyone , I just feel stuck in a rut ! I lost two stone doing slimming world last year but put it back on again , I just find slimming world isn't sustainable for me , it might work for other people but I just felt miserable doing it and restricted !

I started with changing one thing at a time until it became a new habit before moving onto the next one.

I started by having healthier breakfasts in the week and cutting down on the portions for breakfast at the weekends. I then tackled lunches and dinners before limiting snacks. I still have takeaways, chocolate and no foods or food groups are off limits. The difference has been that I now make a better choice most of the time and because I am not following any 'diet plan' it feels sustainable and not restrictive. I am just more conscious of what I eat.

Since end of last year I have now lost almost 6kg. It's been slow but I am hoping this way it actually lasts.

If you have found diet plans to fail in the past I would defintely think about looking at 'mindful eating' rather than 'dieting'.

I think I'm going to start by cutting down slightly and making changes , for example I drink loads of fizzy drinks (zero ones) but I've heard these are equally as badly for your system and make you crave sugar from other sources ! And cut down on my portion sizes !

Look into intermittent fasting.

I have started 16:8 fasting where you eat in an 8 hour window, say 12 until 8, I do eat quite healthy food as I adore vegetables, but as long as you don’t go crazy with junk food it really works. I do also occasionally do a 24 hour fast that is harder but weight is falling off me, I have loads of energy so have started walking for around 60 to 90 minutes a day and feel great, which is what it’s all about. Oh and I NEVER weigh myself. Good luck op

Yes 16:8 is the way to go. Its a game changer. Completely changed my appetite.

Gluten free for me now I'm low carb. Weird how low carb is unacceptable, but gluten free is!

Or imagine you're prediabetic, do it for the health benefits!

Small changes at first. Don't view it as a diet view it as changing to be healthier. Make food that tastes good but crammed with veg, less carbs eg fewer potatoes/pasta etc. Up the protein and veg it will fill you up and you will start to enjoy food again if it tastes good
Introduce more healthy meals or snacks, slowly reduce the things you rely on. Drink more water. Buy less unhealthy food eg have less crisps/choc in the house. Chop up veg as snacks. If chocolate is your thing just have a mini bar version. Then try every other day instead and so on. Move more even if it's just walking if your out walking take a bottle of water and that's time you can't eat.
Try other ways to occupy yourself. Eg hobbies, exercise, house work, art therapy colouring anything! Try mindfulness apps or even basic yoga to clear your head. Can only be ten mins but amazing benefits regularly.

Once you start feeling better and healthier you want to eat healthier and move more and do more it's just getting there. Just slowly does it or you feel like you are depriving yourself.
