Weight Watchers or Slimming World for Emotional Eating

I need to lose weight. I need to lose at least 6 stone (nearer 8). I have childhood PTSD and eat to stuff down the feelings. I am on the waiting list for therapy. I have 2 young children and my husband works long hours. We have very limited finances and limited childcare options in the evening . I work during the day so no option for exercise whilst they are at school. Where we live is tiny and so no space for exercise videos. The most exercise I get is the school run (which isn't far). My family are all fussy eaters and I don't have the energy to make lots of different meals.

I therefore need a plan that will allow for all these factors. I did WW about 15 years ago. And SW around 6 years ago. I know both have changed a lot in this time. Which would be better? It would need to be an APP or online only that wouldn't break the bank

MFP is a free app, very good for counting calories and tracking. There are thousands of YouTube workout videos that you can use that don’t need lots of space! I lived in a studio and still could workout so have a look around.

WW and SW are much the same now and I didn’t like either although lost weight in the past with WW.

Honestly, I wouldn't do either. I eat my feelings to, and I've lost just shy of 7 stone so far using MFP.

Come join us on the 100lbs+ thread in Weight Loss Chat. You need to totally re-evaluate your approach to food and start setting new habits.

By all means, use SW or WW for an initial boost, but neither will teach you proper eating for a long term loss. That's simply not their business model. (I've done SW in the past, lost 3 stone, and put it and more back on immediately as I hadn't learned how to eat properly.

None, you need to get your head straight before you join any. I suggest a psychotherapist.

Neither at the moment. Worth seeing a counsellor or psychologistfirst to address the emotions and feelings.

thank you for your replies. I've just tried trying to find the MFP app. I can't find it. What does it stand for?

MFP stands for My Fitness Pal. I recommend it too! I follow team rh on facebook and just joined last week, its £4.99 a month and is basically calorie counting using mfp, the couple who run it are so kind and supportive and will help you get going. I lost a stone last year with them and then took a break for a bit to maintain (which I did, they will show you how, which slimming world doesn't do) and now back to lose a bit more. Highly recommend you look into them. There are loads of people with 6 plus stones to lose, there is no judgement and you will totally relearn how to eat.

Slimming world is the only one that works for me. It’s a very sustainable way of eating, I never feel like I’m missing out on anything.
What kind of foods do you go for when you are emotionally eating?

Also recommend the Team RH crew. Look at their public page on Facebook first for some inspiration. I joined at New Year, got the app and the private Facebook access and am steadily losing weight. Lovely team atmosphere - everyone supporting each other.
