Anybody tried the No S Diet?

Seems like a really sensible idea. No Sugar, Snacks or Seconds apart from days with an S (weekends and special days). Just limits your calories without having to account for every one. Am giving it a go.

Yes I’ve actually got the book still fat though as haven’t applied the principles
When are you starting? I’ll join you! I’m so fed up of fads, tried SW, WW, shakes, LCHF, MFP to name but a few and keep failing. How much do you want / need to lose?

Please join me! I sort of started last week, but daren't weigh myself until Sunday that's just passed. So next weekend I'll know how I've done. I need to lose a big chunk of weight! I thought it seemed fairly simple, have resisted buying the book, because I'm not sure how much more i need to know... (arrogant?!) though there was some mention in one of the reviews alluding to something like 'Don't have yoghurts in the week if you're eating them instead of a dessert' kind of thing. Can you help me out with this bit please? Just assumed it meant only have fruit kind of thing...

Definitely no need to buy the book! I didn't really mention about yoghurts, as long as your eating then with a meal then I'm assuming that would be ok. Maybe not have one everyday.
I've 4st to lose Sad14.13!!! I'm going to start tomorrow and weigh in every Monday as I've taken my scales to work (keep obsessively weighing myself)

What's your food plan looking like today?

Book also does say think about things like sugar in tea / coffee, try and stick to set mealtimes and portion control.

I will dig the book out tonight and recap Smile

Thanks Ellie. I promise if I need to ask you stuff in future I will buy the book tightarse and veteran of many diet books Food plan? What food plan? Grin Part of my problem is I don't plan meals well enough, and have a picky DH. So I will end up out somewhere with a meal time involved, and a lack of or limited availability of healthy options. I have more weight than you to lose, probably another stone. Hth. Grin

Can I join, I am desperate. Got 5 st to lost but will be happy with 3 stone - am contemplating surgery!
How the hell do people diet?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 13/03/2019 12:55

Please come aboard Whatnot. I'm going to have to think of it as a reasonably healthy eating plan, rather than a diet that I can stop when I've lost the weight. Which I've done before. Thanks for the link Ellie.

Ah and then there were three! Welcome whatnot
Yes a healthy eating plan - no mention of diets - I’m living proof they don’t work Grin

I’m going to spend some time this evening planning my meals for the week, when I’m home from work I stuff my face as not planned / prepared.

I think adding a few more veg in will be helpful for me. Even if I'm having a fish finger sandwich, nothing stopping me having some cherry tomatoes, or a chopped up pepper. Help me get my five a day, and the view that more veg makes your metabolism more efficient. Meal plan on the to do list.

I was thinking exactly the same sponge
Non working day tomorrow so I’ve planned!
B: eggs, grilled bacon and tomatoes & mushrooms with one slice wholemeal - eaten after dropped kids to school

L: Tuna salad with a small portion hummus, lots of carrot batons and light mayo, 2x mini pittas

D: spaghetti bolognese with some asparagus to up my veg

As kids at school I can do a YouTube workout at home.
Book says you can have tea / coffee with sugar - hurray as I can’t drink it without and hate sweeteners.

How has today gone for you?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 13/03/2019 20:53

Not bad thanks. Had some tomatoes I wouldn't normally have had, and have had 3 fruit portions. Pilates tomorrow! How was your food today! Eating fruit isn't a problem, the veg more so.

Food wise - awful but tomorrow is official start day 😳
Re read the book - unfortunately yoghurt after a meal is a no on No S days, alcohol is allowed though although I’m not a big drinker.
Weigh in on Monday so only got 4 days but I’m looking at the longer term.
Off to bed now so I don’t eat anymore Grin

There was a No S thread on here a while back - weight loss chat. There's also a website with a forum everydaysystems.com/bb/viewforum.php?f=3

Thanks Nellie didn't think to advance search it.Will look at the forum. Ellie I thought I remembered that about yoghurts, which is a shame, as I used to have fruit with a bit of plain yoghurt after a meal when slimming before, but it comes under the 'not if it's as a dessert' restriction.

Hi ladies, please can I join you? I did No S a few years ago, loved it but drifted away and have put back on all the weight I lost. Every week, it seems, I try to start again, but have given into the snacks by about Tuesday! So some accountability would be fantastic. Sensible eating starts tomorrow!!!

Morning all, I was meant to have a cooked breakfast this morning but fancied toast instead. No lunch till 1pm today and having dinner at 6.30.
I’m viewing this as a lifestyle change, link above helpful nelly

Got a play date after school and making bread with the girls, I’m going to have a slice with my spaghetti and not eat the whole loaf as soon as it comes out of oven

Hi all. I’ve been doing this for a few weeks! Really enjoying it so far. I haven’t lost much weight yet but have had very social weekends so probably having 3 x S days per week Blush
What I’m really loving is that I’m not binging anymore in the day. Previously I would try and calorie count and have a tiny breakfast/lunch then inevitably would give in to snacks and end up eating 500cals when I got home from work. Now I’m concentrating on 3 filling meals per day and really not feeling the need to snack anymore!
Have about a stone to lose and not bothered if it comes off slowly as I’m really enjoying eating normally and not feeling like I should be tracking anything.

Hi sunday this is exactly what I want to achieve- normal eating, no counting, tracking and obsessing.
The book says it takes around 21 days to get into this new way of eating.
I am worried about how I’ll cope tonight after my evening meal Grin
Will be strong though as I really want this.

Hi ellie, that’s the main thing I love is no more spending money on diet groups or logging everything on MFP. Honestly who has the time to log cucumber what was I thinking 😬 I’m eating healthy filling food that I enjoy and then don’t need to binge on crap. After dinner I tend to have a can of Diet Coke or a flavoured tea if I want something sweet. I have had a couple of hot chocolates (highlights not the real stuff) which would technically be S but only when I’ve really needed it and I think that’s got to be better than a large bar of chocolate...

Typical ‘no s’ day for me at the moment is overnight oats for breakfast, leftovers or soup, roll and an apple for lunch, something decent for dinner eg spag bol, egg fried rice or a curry. No idea what the calories are but it’s just normal eating and trying to get some fruit or veg into every meal.
Does anyone with the book know if fruit is allowed? Just thought that after reading that yoghurts shouldn’t be eaten after a meal?
I tend to have fruit as part of the meal eg berries in my overnight oats so hopefully that’s okay!

That sounds good sunday
The book says as long as your eating fruit with your meal then that’s fine, as long as your not munching on fruit throughout the day and eating it at mealtimes it’s ok.

I’ve just eaten a bowl of leftover spaghetti bolognese and had some grapes. They’d it now until my evening meal.

The book also says it’s ok to have drinks such as 100% fruit juice (small glass) or milk, preferably full fat milk if your really struggling to get through to the next meal.
