Half a stone off in March

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

I’ll join! Weighing in at 12 st 7, so that would bring me down to 12 st, which is a good start at least.
Lost three stone a few years ago due to an ED but gained two back after leaving an abusive relationship. Need to be down at least a stone by May for a job interview (!!) but ideally would like to lose another stone or two after that.

Thanks for the new thread singapore. I too am determined to get below 10 though I've a little further to go. Weighed myself this morning and was back up to 10st 7. I need to step away from the low cal ice cream! And sweet things in general. and to stop polishing off DD4's leftovers! Doing a slow cooked lean beef chilli tonight and having* skinny soup for lunch. Onwards and upwards. Hi wheely*! Sounds like you're super determined and achieving your March target will be a fab confidence builder for your job interview. I just ordered myself some gorgeous whistles dresses that were on sale. They are just a smidge tight at the mo so trying to use that as motivation!

Welcome wheely most of us on the Feb thread struggled at one point or another during the month. I think for some it was celebratory meals out, Valentine’s dinners, staying with family that were over feeding us, or general temporary willpower blips. Half a stone is a tough goal, but should be achievable if we knuckle down!

Tick are you calorie counting on MFP? I bet leftovers would push you over quite easily if you logged them. Maybe take a photo of yourself wearing one of the new dresses, and then it might give you that little push as you’ll see what you want to lose? I’ve noticed my coat is loose at the belt now, and it feels great as my tummy is my biggest problem area. I’ve bought loads of new dresses and playsuits for my holiday and I took photos of me in them, so I can see how my tummy looks in them. I’m so used to holding my tummy in, I almost had to force myself to let it hang out for the photo!

I had a bad day on Tuesday, with chocolate and crisps but have been good since. I really don’t want to undo my hard work so far so I’m being extra careful now, and the pound I put on last weekend has come off, plus an extra one, so I’m feeling good! Just need to get my exercise done as I haven’t been for a run for nearly 2 weeks now. I have been walking every day though, I might get myself a step tracker. Has anyone got one? Just wanting a cheap and cheerful one I guess, I don’t have wifi outside.

I'll weigh in later. I'm off to docs after work

Right, so I’ve logged today’s food in MFP.

Breakfast - coffee with skimmed milk and a teaspoon of honey, and a banana - total 146 kcals.
Lunch - 4 scrambled eggs cooked in butter with some tomato sauce (no toast) and a coffee - total 381 kcals
Dinner - sirloin steak, salad leaves and dressing, plus the oil and butter it’ll be cooked in - total 597 kcals

So my grand total for today, assuming I don’t have anything extra will be 1125 kcals.

That seems sensible, right? Lots of protein, minimal carbs. Not much in the way of fruit and veg, but I’ll have some blueberries and raspberries tomorrow. Probably a bit high in fat today with all the butter, but I always figure you can’t get a completely balanced diet every single day, can you? Tomorrow I won’t be having steak, and will probably have pasta or some other carbs.

Yes I'm logging the leftovers- in fact I've started to leave myself an allowance of 150ish cal just to use for leftover snacking each day. I find it really hard to lay off! On the upside though this is the first time I've used MFP successfully so I definitely wasn't meticulous enough when I used it in the past. Ideally to help reduce the snacking I would actually eat tea with DD then just stop eating earlier in the day but I really enjoy my child free dinner with DH and he just can't get back from work early enough for us all to eat together. Great idea on photos of the dresses! I'll do that. Where are you going on your holiday? I use the apple health tracker on my phone to monitor steps as I usually have my phone with me. I'm also doing HIIT workouts on fitness blender which are free and good if you're pressed for time. I had a Fitbit ages ago but it broke.

Oh and your planned food today sounds really good- and delicious! You might consider snacking on a few more green things (eg celery or cucumber) if you can fit them in but like you say you can up fruit/veg tomorrow. The butter is definitely fine as it's included in your calcs and moderate amounts of fat in your diet is good (and tasty)

I work in a pub at night, so I’ve decided I’m going to pack my gym stuff in my car and go straight there after work. I struggle to get up in the morning after finishing so late, and don’t like going when it’s really busy, so I think this will be good for me.
The job I have the interview for has fitness/health requirements which are tested at the interview so that’s my main motivation - I tried some of the practice fitness tests today in my local park and I managed them just fine, but would like to improve to beyond ‘just fine’!

Tick off to Egypt at the end of the month, so this is my final push to lose the weight. I’ll carry on afterwards, but the main point for me is the hol.
I know what you mean about MFP, I thought I’d logged everything today then when I started writing it above I remembered I needed to add the oil and butter for cooking the steak, and it suddenly bumped up by about 140 kcals! I will try and use minimal amounts but I don’t want a dry boring steak as I won’t enjoy it, and it’s a rare treat.

Someone’s just given me one of those Easter maltesers bunnies as a thank you, which was very sweet, so I’ll see how long I can resist that! Tomorrow I’ll aim for more fruit and veg, I’ve got both cucumber and celery in the fridge and hummous, so very doable.

Aiming for a good weekend as I tend to be better at the weekends rather than using them as some do, as their treat days. Need to get some exercise done too. Have a good weekend all.

Can I join. Just started last week. Upped my exercise with kettlebells and cut out crappy carbs as these are my trigger for a binge especially at weekend. I’m just under 10 stone and aim to be just under 9 by June.

March is going to be my month - I’m in!

I’m at my heaviest weight (11 stone) and struggling with sugar and carb addiction, plus I haven’t exercised for two years. I’m doing the new 5:2 thing - around 800cals low carb and sugar for two weeks as a kickstart and then I’ll switch to 5:2 proper along with adding in some cardio.

The recent warm weather has scared me into getting serious as I can’t wear anything in my wardrobe and refuse to feel shit about myself and hide my body in tents for yet another summer.

Day 1.
B - 1 poached egg and mushrooms on a bed of spinach
L - h/m carrot and coriander soup, an apple and mini baby bel
D - tiny portion of h/m butternut squash risotto with 1 slice garlic bread (this is obv not low carb but I’d already planned it and got the ingredients and I decided I wasn’t going to wait until Monday to start!)

I’ve not been hungry until right now (5pm - craving time!) and I’ve got to sit through swimming before going home to cook. I will not snack. I will not snack!

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 17:13

Welcome harry and bound - those meals sound delish!
When I’m hungry I’ve been having chewing gum as they’re minimal calories but satisfy me enough to not need a snack. The sweeteners in them probably aren’t great but it’s a short term thing.

Can I join you all too please. I finally got my head in the game on Tuesday when I weighed in at 10st 10.8 which puts me right at the top of healthy BMI for my age and height. 6 weeks on Sunday I am going on holiday and would love to be under 10 st by then though feel this is unrealistic, but I would be happy with 10st 2 to be honest.

I have been really good Tues / Weds / Thurs and so far today but am off to a friend's for curry and wine tonight. I did consider not drinking but have decided that losing weight is not that high a priority that I am going to sit there with a herbal tea while my friends are enjoying a glass or two of wine!! I have decided I am definitely going to not have any alcohol tomorrow and I am currently in the gym reception waiting for DH to turn up with my kit so I can attempt to counter balance some of this evenings calories beforehand!!

Amazing loss for feb funky -
Well done! The momentum of the new month and the enthusiasm of this thread is already helping my resolve! My only leftover hoovering from teatime was a couple of sugar snap peas and a tiny piece of chicken Smile. I did resort to a Diet Coke to help me along but I am fine with that! here's to a sensible weekend. Ooh Egypt will be sooo lovely and sunny singapore. Completely agree on the steak- you absolutely have to have butter with it- no point not enjoying it. I think there's a healthy balance to be struck and being miserable with what you eat and drink just isn't sustainable. Ditto on socialising, moderate occasional drinking etc. What's really impressed me this time around with MFP is how it's much easier to be really accurate about the amount of calories in stuff, including when eating out. I managed to go for a meal at loch fyne a few weeks back and be fairly confident that what I was having was - just about - within daily calories. And even if you go over, being really conscious of how much you've gone over by- I find really helpful. It helps me to avoid that 'fuck it' self sabotage thing that's always got me in the past!

yorkshire no judgement here, I find it helps to write down the actual weight, then you can celebrate every pound lost!

adventure I agree, no point denying yourself a glass of wine if it means you won’t feel like you’ve fully enjoyed your evening, and especially if you’ve been sensible the rest of the week.

Welcome to all, must be a new month, new start, and with spring starting, it’s a good time to set those goals. Still plenty of time to make changes in time for summer.

Please can I join? I need to lose the last half stone I’ve been trying to lose since last summer (which will take me to a two stone total weight loss since having my “baby” three years ago!!)
I am going MFP too at 1300 cals per day and trying to run a couple of times per week. Feb was a bit of a disaster as there was just too much birthday cake around!
March could be challenging too as it’s my actual birthday but if I can get there before Easter, I can reward myself with a (small amount of) Easter eggs!

I’m in! Although not starting til Monday - cheating already!!!! It’s my birthday tomorrow and I’m going out for dinner, plus I went into work today and my colleague had made me a huge chocolate cake. Could be rude and say no to that Cake
So starting Monday, then using lent as a great opportunity to make me stay strong.
I’m going away on 8th April and could really do with a 7lb loss
