I wondered where the thread was this week - come out everyone and admit how you're doing (except yorkiegirl who's too successful )

I lost 1lb this week!

Oh twig. I've been verrrryyy bad. I was too ashamed to post on last week's thread. The whole diet thing has gone out of the window. I've ended up eating out lots, eating far too much chocolate and cakes, and no fruit and veg . I haven't weighed myself as the batteries in the scales died. I think it must have been fate.

Hello! I am down to 10 6 too prufrock!
I have been cutting down on dairy and wheat for the last week ... and have lost 2lbs! (Not low carb though ... still eating loads of potatoes and rice - no bread but lots of ryevita - no milk or cheese, but soy milk on porridge) ...
Feel great
Well done everyone else!

Oh God I've failed yet again I'm afraid . I always start the day well but my resolve crumbles mid-morning along with the biscuits in my mouth. Ok I am really really going to try from today. I've had a bowl of cereal, a banana and a peach and I put back the melba toast slices which I was going to cover with an inch of butter...each....

Oh Twig ... I miss herta frankfurters ... If I had them here I would eat them too ...
Today I have eaten:
Breakfast: Bowl of Cornflakes with soya milk
Snack: 2 Wheat free rice biscuits
Lunch: 4 Sesame Dark Ryevitas with ham and tomato and teensy smear of mayo
Snack: Banana
Dinner: Fish and Chips ooops !!! But oh, so tasty ....
And a large glass of red wine ...
Is that a bad day? I think it was very good until the Fush n Chups (as the kiwis call it)

Has anybody trying not mixing carbohidrates with proteins, you can eat anything the only thin is not to mix the two groups in the same food (so bye bye fish&Chips) it seems to be working for me. Somebody told me that if I started drinking two litters of water a day, my body would get rit of the "water reserve" as it wouldn't be needed any longer, I did it for a weekend and lost 3 pounds, worth a try?

Chandra · 07/09/2004 12:46

litters or litres? dear god!!! instead of doing a MA I should be applying to attend primary school...

chandra, interesting research just published (in the lancet?) about how low fat diets as good as atkins type low carbs..in fact low fat group lost more over a year, atkins lost more during first 6 months, they think due to boredom of eating

Report
Chandra · 07/09/2004 13:01

I'm not following atkins, the only thing I have been doing is to try to eat vegetables when I eat meat (instead of chips, rice, etc), and I'm avoiding potatoes, crisps, salt, sugar some times, and instead of fizzy drinks I'm drinking water with a slice of lime. I have lost 12 pounds since we started, needed to fight to have the kitchen back (it's been DH's territory for 6 yrs) but it seems it has been worth it

Report
Chandra · 07/09/2004 13:02

Oh... I forgot, I believe what the research said was that people was eating less in atkins because the body take longer to digest such amount of proteins therefore you feel no hunger as in other diets. :)

hello everyone

I need to join in in earnest now as DS2 (one year old tomorrow) had now dropped lunchtime slurp and that leaves just three BFs a day, only two serious ones out of that.

However I am eating a large packet of crisps and will be eating that Australian delicacy known as 'Fairy Bread' tomorrow at the birthday tea. That's hundreds and thousands sprinkled on a buttered white sliced loaf. Apparently it's obligatory

2 lb lost so makes up for last week.

That's interesting Ghosty about going diary and wheat free. Before I was pg, I was told I had a food allergy to those - especially dairy. I did for a few months cut out diary and restrict wheat and as a nice side effect lost loads of weight . However I hated soya milk. I would do it again but tbh am a bit concerned about not getting enough calcuim in my diet (that's my excuse for scoffing lots of cheese). What do you do for calcuim intake?
