Time to lose some weight! Who's with me?

DieterDawn · 02/02/2019 12:49

There's lots of threads on this but I'm starting this one as I feel behind when I look at the other threads and people have made progress already. I'm 5'7 and weigh 12st 1lb. I want to get down to about 9 stone but need some encouragement. Every day, I'll log on my food and update weight weekly, be it good or bad. If anyone else would like to join me, I'd love to have other people share their journey. I have a sedentary lifestyle, normally not hitting over 1500 steps a day so that's something I'm focusing on, as well as diet. I use MFP to track steps and food. I'll start with yesterday's food:

Breakfast:
2 kiwis
Strawberries
Green tea

153 calories

Lunch:
Ham sandwich (trying to cut down carbs so will look for alternatives)
292 calories

Dinner:
Salmon fillet with broccoli: 248

Snacks:
3x custard creams (Sad)
1x ripple
1x large carrot

16oz water
1791 steps

Even if no-one joins, I'll still log this to see my progress and will weigh in next Friday. I'm going to be completely honest with what I eat, even if I fall off the wagon big time. Time to make a change Smile

I'll keep you company. Chocolate and biscuits are the work of the devil! I only have half a stone to lose but it's proving difficult to budge.

Ooo can I join you? I'm similar 5'7 and want to get down to about 9st. Had a bit of a shock at the Drs as they weighed me at 11st 1. I thought I was more like 10st Sad

Yesterday I had:

Breakfast: avo on toast (250 kcal)
Lunch: left over pizza ( okay this was bad but had to be eaten) maybe 500kcal? It was 2 slices of thin crust.
Dinner: chicken thighs with chickpea and tomato sauce stew type thing. Around 500kcal according to mfp.
No real snacks just milk in tea and 2 mini eggs
In take probably around 1400

Steps: 14000
Yesterday wasn't great. I will be better today! I'm aiming for 1200kcal a day , I'm normally pretty sedentary throughout the week but try to do more at the weekend.

Ah great I'll join! I'm waiting to start a new job so currently not working and it's made me super lazy so want to loose weight and get my fitness up before I start back! I struggle to use Mfp as I don't weigh anything and cook a lot from scratch but maybe it should start!

Same height as you, 5 7” and weigh 11 stone. My goal is 9.4.

I am about to order trousers in one size smaller than I am - they are what I am aiming for for now.

Hi ladies! It'll be great to chat to people going through the same thing and going for the same goal. Seems like I have more to lose than nose of you though!

Yesterday I had:

Breakfast:
300ml semi skimmed milk
2x weetabix biscuits
1tbsp golden syrup
Total calories: 339

Lunch:
Cup a soup (chicken and noodle)
0.5 slice of gf bread
1x gf pancake
Total calories: 192

Dinner (naughty bit):
1x McDonald's mayo chicken burger Blush
1x McDonald's small fries
1x McDonald's salad shaker
Total calories: 464

Snacks:
2/3 of a ripple bar
1x kiwi
Total calories:171

Steps: 2176

What I took from that:
Unfortunately the McDonald's was unavoidable, it was that or don't eat due to what was going on yesterday. However I'm pretty proud of what I ate as usually I'd eat 9x chicken nuggets, 1x large fries, mozzarella dippers and maybe a McFlurry so to restrain and just eat that was a good thing for me personally. I have however eaten a wispa bar this morning Sad chocolate is my weakness! Also wanting to step up my walking today. How is everyone else doing? So far, no weight off yet but I've only been doing it for a few days so that's probably asking too much Grin

Hello, I'd like to join please! I started running with the couch to 5k app on New Years and then started eating healthy too and lost half a stone in under a month, however the past 2 weeks have been rather unhealthy and have stopped running so I'm feeling pretty bad about myself again. I find that running really encourages me to eat healthier

Il join. I’m 5ft 7 but I have a larger frame so my goal is to get down to 11.5 stones. I currently weigh 14. I got down to 13 stones before Christmas with a strict diet and exercise program but let things slip. I’m a bit gutted now and dont have the motivation to be so strict (it was really hard!)
I’ve got a chest infection at the moment but will try to be good with food if not the exercise

I'm with you! Have about 4kg to loose (9lb). I struggle most with cutting out the booze despite the fact that this would be the easiest way to loose weight. I'm not really overweight but i just have lumps and bumps i don't need to be carrying!

Good work on no custard creams DieterDawn! It food we eat as habits that are the hardest to give up. Have you tried just having no biscuits and chocolate in the house?

Report
DieterDawn · 04/02/2019 12:23

I don't drink anymore so not a problem for me re booze, it might be in the future as I'm not drinking until summer and then might socially. The custard creams are finished hence none of them Grin I don't buy in chocolate but DH does and I sometimes just can't resist Blush

DieterDawn - can he just not eat them for a bit to support you?
We can't buy anything like that and keep it in the house. My DH will go through it all in one sitting!
Are you exercising at the moment?

DieterDawn · 04/02/2019 12:43

Wine he's agreed after he finishes what we have in the house, he won't buy any more or buy things I hate eg crunchies, because I definitely couldn't be tempted to eat them. Which is just as well as I've eaten (for snacks) 2x bags of quavers and a wispa 😩 Do you use MFP?

As in MyFitnessPal? I didnt seem to be able to put in my goal weight. I like the app to tell me how much to eat etc. I use MyNetDiary as it has a huge database of foods and you can add things to the food library.

Today has not been good ladies Sad

Breakfast:
1x banana
2x weetabix biscuits
200ml milk
1x tea
1x tbsp syrup
Total: 494

Lunch:
1x gf pancake
1x slice of white bread
1x slice of cheddar cheese
1x cup of leek and potato soup
1x babybell
Total: 487

Dinner:
1.5 gf pita breads
4tbsp reduced fat hummus
Total: 308

Snacks:
1x wispa
2x bags of quavers
1x kiwi
1x Aldi Mars bar thing
0.5 custard cream

Total: 1917
Steps: 3413

I'm so disappointed in today. I didn't have time for a proper dinner hence what I ate but I'm most upset about my snacks. Luckily through my second bag I realised I'm not that keen on them anymore and they're all gone now so no more crisp temptation. I've bought lots of fruit that I like so it can only get better and I'll make a huge effort to replace the chocolates with strawberries. How did everyone else get on today?

I'd love to join too if you'll have me! I'm desperate to lose weight 5ft 3 and I'll weigh myself in the morning but I guess 12 stone. I like healthy food but I seem to love snacks too . I had a bacon butty this morning! I'm really not sure what plan to try and follow as I've tried most of them lost a bit and then gave up .

Down a pound - yay!

I had quite a good day yesterday, until I put chilli sauce with my poached eggs. 100 calories for a large tablespoon. Not doing that again.

I use MFP sporadically, so I'll def try to get back in the habit of that. I hope posting on here will be the extra layer of accountability that I need to finally lose this weight! :)

Can I join you to post my daily eating please? I was doing well in January and went from 12st to 11st8 which at 5'4 is well into overweight on the BMI scale. However since February started I've just eaten everything in sight.

Yesterday:
Breakfast 2 x crumpets and spread

Lunch: chicken salad sandwich and oven baked crisps

Then...

Snacks: chicken katsu sushi pack
15 x olives
2 x weetabix and milk

Dinner: Chinese takeaway 😡 half a portion of satay veg with fried rice with half a portion of chips and some curry sauce!!

Weight this morning was 11st9 3/4 which is a combination of time of the month and the Chinese so today I'm going to drink plenty of water and green tea and try and get back on track!

I'm doing DeChox in February so giving up chocolate as I realised how I was mindlessly eating chocolate every time I walked past an open pack especially at work but now I just need to work on not replacing those 800-1000 calories a day with other snacks!

Sorry this has turned into an essay

Doing ok here - had a stressful few days and it's killed my appetite. Sometimes stress makes me eat but other times it has the opposite effect. Anyway although I've had an awful few days the upside is that it's stopping me eating. Although I have still got half a stone to go I've managed to lose over a stone in the last year just by cutting out sugar and white bread but making no other changes. My appetite has reduced dramatically. Sugar just makes you hungrier for more sugar. The best fruit to eat is definitely raspberries as they hardly impact on your blood sugar at all so don't make you crave more. Sorry if I sound preachy but it's been life changing for me.

Hope you are all doing ok
I just downloaded MFP and even though I thought I had quite a good day it came to 1473 kcal . Just shows there are more calories in some foods than you think! I had toast for breakfast soup for lunch and fish pie and veg for tea then yoghurt but snacks were a chocolate biscuit ( someone else brought them into work why didn’t i resist!!!) and a banana. Will try to snack less tomorrow and ensure everything is tracked as MFP says to aim for 1200 kcal

Morning All, I'm just reading through your daily diets and wondering if anyone is having protein with their breakfast? I started eating eggs (usually a piece of toast and two eggs at 240 cals - 290 if you add some butter) for breakfast a few years ago and it had a really positive effect on how hungry i was for the rest of the day. I also wasn't eating sugar (honey, jam etc) so my blood sugar didn't crash and make me reach for a sugary snack mid-morning.
I either boil a batch of eggs on a Sunday and take them to work for breakfast, or scramble them in the microwave (its not gourmet but it tastes just fine)
