Hi Cp3 - did you not receive my email? Sent it this morning. Anyway, nothing to brag about, but my total this week was 47,778.

Already on my way to a better result next week as I had a good day today. Maybe I won't be lurking around the bottom of the list a week from now!

hello everyone - I just wanted to ask where the 10,000 a day came from. Is that some sort of accepted ideal? I have to say that I normally get a bus most mornings for about a mile and I've been walking it instead - so that's definitely given me a boost - not sure how long it will last

hI there,

I was not doing that well last week until thursday when I did almodst 20,000.

Doing doing very well this week so far. Yesterday I had a thumping headache and stayed in bed most of the morning. I did not go out as I was busy pack up my clothes for uotr move next weekend so I don't think I even managed 1,000 let alone 10,000

10 000 is an 'easy' target for everyone to aim for (as in mathematically, not physically!) but ideally you should work out how many steps you take per day taken from a weekly average, then try to increase this by about 2 000

fed up with my crap pedometer.

CP3 - sent it to your hotmail account. But, my ISP is AOL, and it's been acting very odd lately, so who knows where the problem is? Anyway - as I said before, this could be my week......did 15,252 today. I find it so much easier to get moving for a decent daily total when the weather is good!

dingle, me too, off to find other threads to find where to get one

Any advice on what to get? Is the Argos one OK?
What day do you start "counting?"
When do you announce results?
Great incentive to improve fitness.

I got mine in Millets £9.99.
I have tried to increase my steps by 10% each week but as CP3 will tell you - I have failed most weeks. If I don't go out at all, I do about 3000, if I walk to the local shops I do about 4500 and I have to really think about where I want to go if I want to do 10,000! Gives me something to aim for and it does make me think about how I can walk more. This evening I've been to visit a friend in hospital with her new baby (very gorgeous - feel a bit broody now ) and I actually took the stairs instead of the lift - that sort of thing. It must be doing me some good!

Just putting you all on notice that I have had a very strong walking week. You've got a day to catch me if you can - or I will FINALLY be the winner.....instead of close to the bottom of the list, or too embarrassed to report!

hatter · 10/09/2004 00:36

come on the EB how far have you got?

Report
Earlybird · 10/09/2004 00:39

You might think I'm exaggerating, but I'm at about 78,000 so far. I guess that's what happens when school is in session, and the weather is good! Also......I've had no childcare this week, so dd and I have been pounding the pavement.

How have you done?

Report
hatter · 10/09/2004 00:45

oooo you're doing wel. I'm on about 71,000 but planning a goog day tomorrow!

Report
Earlybird · 10/09/2004 00:52

Thought for a moment there that you had gone out for a late night walk when it took you a few minutes to reply! You're doing well too! Tomorrow will be a big day for both of us, and may the best mum win!

Off to bed now so that I'm not sleepwalking all day tomorrow. Good luck.

You 2 are too good for me.

I thought I was doing well on about 56,000 so far.

This will be my last week of definitley reporting in as we are moving tomorrow and won't have net access.

I am going to try and use the inlaws connection once a week or try to find an internet cafe locallly to check ands send emails, and check on mumsnet, but I won't be on as regularly as I have been,

Earlybird · 10/09/2004 06:53

MadameButterfly - everyone else probably knows this already, but where are you moving to?

56,000 isn't too shabby at all! In a normal week, I'd be thrilled to have achieved that amount - especially admirable with the added stress of arranging a move. And you have been consistently high each week, which is fantastic. That's the next challenge for me is to maintain this sort of level.

Good luck, and keep us up to date with your whereabouts and activities.

Tommy · 10/09/2004 07:00

You lot are making me feel bad I thought I'd done pretty well wthis week with one day doing 15,000 but my total isn't going to be any where near yours! Ah well - keep plodding away

Tommy - don't feel bad. This is an unusual week for me. As I said before, I put it down to the good weather. Wish I could be more consistent - and that is probably the next goal for me.

Damn it, I've had a strong walking week too, thought I was definately in the clear? And I've a fab blister to go with it too. It's funny how you get good weeks.
