Fucked up my 1st January new me start

scarletsadie · 06/01/2019 08:00

I have been an eating machine, I've even shocked myself with how much crap I have been consuming.

My plan was to start my 'new me' diet on the 1st, this didn't happen Grin

Anyone care to join me, starting from right now?

Just off for a shower, I will weigh myself for the first time in months. I'm guessing I need to lose around three stone. I will report back and log my weight.

I hate this starting on a certain day thing.... just start when it feels good for you. The important thing is that you do start.

xmas, it's a depressing thought having to lose three stone isn't it? It seems such a huge amount.

Happy that you are joining me.

I need to lose about the same. I was waiting for 7th anyway as I'm back at work but I tried to be just a bit healthy yesterday and failed miserably!! I'll join you and start today! I'll weigh in when I drag my sorry (oversized) backside out of bed!!!

I'm in! I lost 3 stone after my Dd was born last March, but being on maternity leave and not doing much in the colder months means some of the weight is coming back, and I'm getting self conscious and unhappy with the way I look!
I decided to start my diet on the first day back at work on Wednesday, and did so well, until Friday, when I got a breakfast wrap due to running late for work had fruit at work, which was good, but a family bag of Doritos for dinner was the straw that broke the camels back 🙈

Diets don't work, try changing one thing for a week or two then another. Slowly works better than changing all at once. You will change it all, eat one chocolate bar and then think fuck it! Why not try snacking on fruit for a week or two, when you are used to that, try eating more veg, then when you've done that cut down on the amount of pasta you are eating. Etc... Do you see what I mean?

I've weighed myself and I am 11 stone 5.5 lbs. This is less than I thought but still need to lose a good 2.5 stones.

I started yesterday. I could probably do with losing 3.5 stones but will be happy to work on the first stone for now. I can't set myself up to fail with goals I feel I can't attain.

I think the trick is to find a plan that works for you. I started in September with 3 stones to lose and I’ve been doing the 5.2. Working really well so far , 23 pounds down and I’ve been able to relax at the weekend, eat out ect. Still a bit to go and back on the wagon now after Christmas but this is the first diet I’ve found that I can actually stick to and I don’t feel deprived because I’m only fasting two days per week.

Can I join?
I was made redundant at the end of last year and have been "comfort" eating ever since.
The fact that Christmas was just around the corner I just thought sod it and went a bit mental with my eating Blush

I recently bought a larger sized pair of jeans, and I'm ashamed to say that they're no longer comfortable either!

I purposely chose this weekend to start again properly rather than January 1st as the kids are back at school and the Christmas goodies have pretty much gone.

I too have about 2-3 stone to lose.

I don't think starting on 1st January ever works! I've got a minimum of 2 stone but probably closer to 3 to lose. We've kind of been eating up the rubbish in the house but my plan is to eat a bit less & move more rather than a specific diet.
Although 1 thing I'm definitely planning on doing is lessening the takeaways I eat!
2019 is the year to finally get rid of my fat & feel good again.

Another one with three stone to lose! Im sort of starting this week but it’s my birthday on Saturday so that will be a day off.

I messed up too - did three really excellent days, good eating and no alcohol. Then came Friday/Saturday/Sunday and the wheels fell off - every single one!

Fortunately I stayed the same, so starting again today.

You haven't messed anything up, you don't need to start with a whole day, focus on one meal at a time. Choose healthier options whenever you eat and gradually they all add up.

I follow Slimming World and have lost almost 5.5st in just over 18 months, it's been an amazing motivator and it really does work BUT I do agree with the PP that diets don't work long term. I've had a fortnight break twice in that 18 months and both times ended up gaining almost a stone because I slipped into old habits.

Now I've lost the weight I'm focusing on learning healthy habits that don't come with following a "plan". Eating less, moving more and making healthier choices as standard.

I've started again today, which is made slightly easier by being at Champneys for my mums Xmas present! However I went to the gym and realised just how unfit I've become over the last year so I think my motivation has to be to get fitter and hopefully with that will come sleeping better and maybe eating healthier and losing some weight...

So my goals are to be able to run 5k again by the end of March and to only eat chips/takeaway once a week. I try and change everything all at once and cut out crisps, chocolate, cheese, chips etc normally, and then feel rubbish when I fail after 2 hours. So small sustainable changes are the way to go this year as I really want to lose 2.5st but don't mind if it takes me all year!

I started today and will hopefully lose 5st 10lbs- quite aware that’s not going to happen all at once and will be going slowly to avoid the deflated balloon look Grin

I took the plunge and weighed myself this morning, not as bad as I thought, but they often say that your clothes are a more accurate measurement of weight loss/gain than scales.
I weigh the same as I did back in August, but I look and feel awful at the moment.

First challenge for me tonight is not to plough through a tower of biscuits with my evening cuppa. I will instead have a square of nice dark chocolate to take away that sugar craving!

Can I join also ? I have about 3.5 stone to lose since having my DD in march. Really going to commit to eating properly and regular exercise.

I did myself a salad for lunch & then got cooked stir fry for tea was thinking I'd done pretty well.

Then I've eaten half a sharebag of pringles & 6 chocolate biscuits... Maybe not the best idea to try & start when I'm suffering pmt!

Anyone else using my fitness pal? I've stuck to my calories today but I did have a slice of cake (who bakes for work in January!!!) so I was over in my target for sugar but it's still a gazillions times less sugar than I have been eating!! I desperately need to cut back in sugar as half my family have type 2 diabetes Shock

I've also been to yoga so some activity, albeit not that strenuous! Oh I was back to work too standing all day. Feeling it in my legs after 2 weeks sat on the sofa!!

I never start anything like this on Jan 1st because it's my birthday and we always go out to lunch - though this year DH and DD decided 'dry January' was a good idea. HmmGrin

He took her back to uni this weekend so now he and I are both out of excuses to get back into exercise and losing a bit of weight. He likes calorie counting, I don't (I'm short and 58 which means my BMR is horribly small anyway) so I'm going to try to get back into 5:2, which worked well for me a few years ago. And Jillian Michaels.

I find it easier to eat at work than it is at home. I can be more strict then. But at home with a 10 month old, it's harder to stick to a good eating plan. Some days I eat later than I should, so I eat for quickness instead of health. So far, so good since Sunday though!
