Just thinking about goals for the next year and would love to hear any success stories from last year.

What, if any, WOE did you follow?

What about exercise?

How are you managing to maintain?

Top tips?

Lost 3 stone after having a baby...cut down on sweet things, actually made and ate more at mealtimes (but whole grains/veg), and walked loads. Had a drink of water before I had a snack. To be fair I'm breastfeeding as well so the baby has taken a fair bit of it!

Lovely idea for a thread, bumping as would be great to hear about those who met their goals (but perhaps they just don't check the weight loss boards anymore!)

I share my success story a lot Blush

From 17 1/2 stone to 10st and running a half marathon in 9 months (hit targets the week of my 42nd birthday).

I lost another half stone since then, got to 9st 9. Have put on over the 2 weeks of Christmas, but that's to be expected and is a reason I aim to be well under BMI 25 - so increases over celebration periods mean I stay within healthy weight.

Back to losing again now. My aim is 8st 11 - which will mean I am half my original weight. I hope to maintain around the 8st 7 - 9st range. And continue to run every day.

No commercial diet, just common sence. I eat low carb and low fat (But not no carb and no fat). Most meals are lean protein and veg. I rarely eat breakfast and have 7-10 vegetable portions per day. I don't snack, only eating at meal times. Sunday dinner is my treat meal - the only time I have potatoes and a proper pudding.

Me! I firstly got my head together in 2017 with Gillian Riley. I was then able to approach 2018 in the spirit of making permanent sustainable healthy change. I didn't weigh myself at the start of the year (I worried it would distract from my focus). I started 2918 at size 18-20 and ended at size 12-14. In 2019 I'd like to get to a size 10.
Apart from changing my whole mental approach to food, I did intermittent fasting, and towards the end of the year I adopted a lower carb lifestyle. I will continue with both in the longer term.
Exercise wise, I cycle to work every day ( 12 mile round trip), and took up yoga. Both of these are sustainable for me in the longer term.
I certainly did indulge over Christmas and was relaxed about what I ate and drank at other celebrations, holidays and family gatherings - this needs to be something I can sustain forever.
Good luck OP!

I posted this on another thread this morning:

Last December got told I was overweight and pre-diabetic (ok hmm was only just overweight at 26 but pre-disposed towards diabetes with a family history of it). I was 66.5kg or 10 1/2 stone at 5" 3. Since then I have logged all food on mfp and had to stick to 1200 calories who h was really tough and I started running more (I'd all ready done c25k which I mistakenly thought have me permission to eat everything going). Since then my Bmi is now down to 19 and I weigh after Christmas 50kg about 7 1/2 stone. I've done 2 half marathons in the last year and feel the best I've done in years and turned 45 recently.

You really can do this too.

These are really inspiring . Currently 10.2 (am only 5’1 and small boned so it really doesn’t look good, I carry all my weight around my middle) I’d be so chuffed if I could get to 8.9 or so. Trying lower carb and to get back into running.

If I were you @FATEdestiny I would share too, these are exactly the inspiration I was after.

If I could lose two stones I'd be happy with that, and it seems doable with these stories too.
