Any vegetarian FILLING dishes you could share?

I need to lose at least half a stone and I just can’t shift it. I’m short so to me it is a lot but hard to lose on an already reasonably low calorie intake needed....

I need some new lunch (quick and easy or can pre prepare) and dinner recipes/ideas but for me AND the dc so I’m not cooking two different evening meals.

I’m vegetarian but can’t eat wheat or white potatoes or a lot of dairy as they all upset my stomach. I do eat lentils but they too make me very bloated with a belly ache. Iv run out of nice meals that fit this bill. Can anyone help??

Thank you I’ll have a look!

Just thought to add the things I already do often:

Roast, fajitas (I have leaf instead of wrap), meat and 2 veg type meals and I’ll have say quorn sausages and kids will have pork sausages, I’ll make Bolognase and I have cauli rice and they have pasta etc etc

Schroomdogs from Sainsbury’s are lovely. Very nice with sweet potato mask or in a (wheat free) pasta bake.

We don’t have chilli oftenas one dc doesn’t like spicy food despite me making it mild hmm we do jackets and I do have a sweet potato ...

I don’t eat wheat free pasta, isn’t that just as bad for weight loss(the same as say white pasta I mean).

Didn’t spot this was in weight loss chat not food and drink.

Pasta can be absolutely fine as part of a diet plan. I measure mine not to eat too much but carbs aren’t bad. I suggested wheat free because you said you didn’t eat wheat confused

Mushroom, peppers and spinach omelette - always fills me up. I add a dash of soy or Worcestershire sauce to liven it up - I like to live on the edge!

Yes I don’t eat wheat as it gives me stomach ache, I don’t use free from stuff as Iv always seen it as not a good choice if trying to lose weight plus it’s not that healthy with all the sugar and salt and extras they add. My comment was looking for either confirmation or it to be dismissed....

No problem loki! It had anchovies in it. It’s one of the things I miss from when I used to eat meat.

spag bol,
lasagne with sweet potato wedges baked in oven and salad,
casserole made with veggie sausages

If you use a meat alternative you can make anything so choose what you like. Quorn is reduced fat anyway so excellent for weight loss and maintenence.

If you don't like pasta how about the pasta made from spinach or beetroot.

‘Shepherds’ pie made with green lentils & a sweet potato toppping. I think I got the recipe I use from the BBC food website. It’s delicious.

Chickpea & butternut squash tagine (dead easy).

Veggie chilli (I just use mixed beans and roasted veg, as don’t like meat substitutes much).

Do you eat other pulses ie. Barley, chick peas, kidney beans etc

Yes I do eat all pulses and beans. I do eat lentils but have noticed they hurt my stomach so don’t like to have them often. I have never cooked green lentils I don’t think though... may have to have a look into that!

I completely forgot that you can get pasta made from vegetable! Thanks, I will get some of that too.

My standard lunch fits in the category of filling, quick, easy, can pre prepare and low calorie.

1 can of chickpeas, blitzed up and split between two portions for two days. Can be livened up with a dsp of peanut butter but this makes it high calorie and higher fat
2 whole peppers, sliced
3 whole celery sticks, halved

This is 7 of the NHS portion sizes of vegetables. About 250 calories without the peanut butter.

Fate is that really filling? Isn’t that like eating literally just 2 whole peppers... presuming the chick peas and up a bit like hummus? Saying that hummus is quite filling. Does it keep hunger at bay until dinner time though?

Ive just baked a sweet potato for work tomorrow, and will have with cottage cheese mixed with diced cucumbers and spring onions.

fate do you heat the chickpeas or just straight from the can?

The chickpeas is a hummus dip, just without the faff of the other ingredients. I eat it as a dip with veg sticks.

It's my lunch most days and is really filling. The peppers and celery are very volumous - there's lots of them to fill your tummy!
