Gastric balloon

I wondered whether anyone had had a gastric balloon and whether you would be willing to share any experiences or advice.

I have 3 stone to lose and am feeing quite hopeless. I understand that the medical evidence is that balloons are quite effective.

Is it something it would be possible to do without involving family?
