I’m 14 weeks pregnant with my second child (DC1 is 17 months) & my BMI is 31. I’m 2 stone 8lbs over weight. I can’t stand it, I feel fat & awful. Just 6 months ago I weighed 10 stone I’m now 12.8!! I NEED to lose some weight during this pregnancy I can’t let myself go on like this for the next 6 & 1/2 months. Please, if anyone has any advice to shed the pounds reasonably quickly but not interfere with my baby that’d be great. I’ve read that if you’re over weight & therefore have fat in reserve a pretty restrictive diet shouldn’t harm baby. Anyone had any success dieting during pregnancy? Thanks in advance, from one very fed up, frumpy mum.

You should n ot go on a restrictive diet.

You can modify your diet to eat healthy rather than junk foods but you need to eat enough calories to keep you and baby healthy.

You need to remember that baby will take eve rything it needs from your body, so if you heavily restrict calories, nutrients you could end up deficient and poorly.

you used to be able to go on the slimming world diet while pregnant... you might need midwife approval but they give you more calcium and specific advice/ booklet so you don't restrict your body of needed nutrients. good luck!

Hi Guys.. is it okay if I join? I am just 9+4 weeks pregnant and about 4 stone overweight already. Blush The idea was to lose this weight BEFORE getting pregnant but obviously with not much luck.

I managed to lose about 2 stone a couple of years ago and felt great about myself, but that was through hardcore exercise and healthy eating (i was in the gym pretty much nearly every day!) Obviously I cant do this now that I'm pregnant.

Have signed up to SW.. but in all honesty I am not following it very well. Really struggling with motivation.. and im fearful that if i start exercising or whatever that I will harm the baby. (silly i know.)

But at the same time.. i REALLY dont want to put on anymore weight. I have read that the first trimester you shouldn't really put anything on... and i think ive only gained 1lb (but thats probably due to constipation Blush ). Whilst I would be very happy to maintain my weight.. I would love to be able to lose.. I just cant get a shifty on.. you know?
