Ideal weight at 5’3?

DumbleDork · 18/11/2018 18:35

I know this can vary massively and that the recommended weight range for this height is between 7 stone 6 and 10 stone 1 but generally speaking where abouts do you think the ideal weight would be? Thanks Smile

I am approx 112-114lb at this height where I feel comfortable.

I'm a little shorter but I'd say 8.10 to 9.3 or so would be good. However I'm more, and shorter Grin

I'm 5'3" - my body shape meant I looked my best at 9st 12lbs, when I went lower people thought I looked ill. I say that but I'm currently 13st 2 so have my work cut out for me!

I was just over 7st pre babies, almost 10st at full term pregnancy, 9st while breastfeeding and have been sitting around 8st 4lbs for the past 9 years.
I could be more toned but I feel happy enough.

5ft 3 and hovering just above 9 stone - happier at under 9 Stone. Generally wear size 10 so feel ok.

For me, between 8 and 8 1/2 stone. I'm currently 9 1/2 and it's too heavy for me - belly rolls and lumpy thighs - but for someone with a different body shape and composition it could be fine.

Depends what you feel good at! I felt best at about 10 stone (I was very toned from exercise though). My best friend is the same height as me and is happiest at 8st 4.

Hmm it really does vary massively.
To put it into perspective I’m currently 14 stone and a size 18 but have joined slimming world so am trying to think about what target weight to set Smile would love to be able to fit into a size 8 again but when I was a size 8 I was only 17 and about 8 1/2 stone without boobs or hips so don’t know how well this would look on a 32 year old

I’m the same age, and same height, I’m aiming for 9st 12 which I think will make me a size 10/12 - it’s been a while since I was that small!

About 9st. I'm 5'4''

I'm 5'2" and I look ok at about 56 kg (124lb) and fit - but I'd prefer to be about 54 kg ish. That would put me a definite size 10 - am currently between 10 & 12. I'm not particularly fine boned - more short & solid Grin

My neighbour is similar height and very different build - she's much more waif like and probably a size 6 - 8 and looks fine too.

I'm the same height and 9st 2

Would be happier at 8 and a half stone

But too lazy to do anything about it

There are calculations for this but god knows what they are based on.

If you go to this TDEE website here put your details in and then click through various ideal weight calculations are given below.

Looking at the results the first formula, the Hamwi formula, fits with when I think I look good.

I'm that height and my happy weight is 9 stone.

I'm about 9stone 3 pounds now, and absolutely feel it on my tummy.

loving my weekend wine and pizza to do anything about it though

5'3" here and currently 8.12. Would be better at 8.2 as I have a belly roll and muffin top, but despite healthy eating and regular running, I seem unable to shift it. The joys of getting older.

Why not set your goal at say 10 stone and see how you feel when you achieve that. Everyone is different, I often see people at my weight and height who are wearing size 10 and yet I would never get into a size 10. Good luck with your journey.

I am 8st13 at the moment at 5ft5 did go up to 9.7 and felt awful tbh, but I am quite smalled boned. For me, my ideal is probably 8st7 or just over bearing in mind my age. I am 43 and have been as low as 7.10 but know this wouldnt be a good look for me now. If I was 5ft3 would probably be aiming for 8st3 or thereabouts.

7st 11lb currently at that height. Went to 11st 6 at the end of the pregnancy which I didn't feel comfortable with as I have always been petite. Lost the weight now and feel much better.

Depends on your body shape. I'm just over 9st and find it much bigger than ideal at that height, but I have a big waist. I suppose if you're naturally hour glass you'd look good at a bigger weight.
For me the ideal would be around 8st4 to 8st7 at that height. That's for a person whose not muscly at all.

Dumble - why not just put a low target weight, but stop before you get to it once you feel you've reached where you want to be?

I'm this height and 7st 8 at the moment. I go between 7st 5 and 7st 10. I have pathetically skinny wrists and ankles. At the top end of this range I don't feel happy.

I'm that height and I have no idea what I weigh. I became a fixated on being a certain weight and it wasn't healthy. I do know that at 8 stone people said I looked unwell, and at over 10 stone ( after pregnancy) clothes just looked wrong and I felt uncomfortable. So somewhere in between!

I'm this height and currently 9.2. Would like to be 8'10 but just can't seem to get below 9...

I'm 47 next week, it was SO much easier to shift it 20 years ago 😁
