This is my first post here, been overweight for most of my life, never had the motivation to do anything before, but really want to start horse riding again, and want to take dd to Alton Towers and fit comfortably on the rides. I have a long way to go. I am going to my doctors next week, and before I go am wondering if anyone here has had anything prescribed that works. My doc's don't offer if you don't ask. Do you know if there is anything like the lighter life diet availible on the nhs? I think something like that would really work for me, but can't afford it myself.
Thanks for reading

I don't think the NHS provide anything like Lighter Life. There are a range of appetite suppressants which they can prescribe, there are things like Xenical which are basically to keep you on a low-fat diet, or they can refer you to a dietician - and that's basically it.

I don't know if they have it in your area, but our GP recently started doing gym sessions on prescription - would that be worth investigating?

my gps refer you to slimming world and cover the costs, I don't know if its nationwide or just our local authority, worth asking
