unmotivated to lose weight for no logical reason at all

Its driving me up the bloody wall!!

I currently weight bang on 14 stone. I'd like to get back down to 10.

I have a gym membership- but don't go. I get tired after work but spend the entire evening sat on my sofa instead. I'd love to go to gym classes, so I sign up for them then just cancel on the day. I try going to the normal gym and I do nothing so I need the classes for motivation if I ever actually go

I don't eat particularly unhealthy but it could be better. But again there's no logical reason behind me not eating healthier. I constantly think about food and its always in the back of my mind if we have unhealthy food in. Even if there's none in I drive to the shop to get something!!

I really need some help before I drive myself insane. I've felt shit about myself for years and I'm getting to the point where I hate myself and how I look. I am lacking serious motivation to go to the gym, and I need help with discipline for eating more healthy, less snacks and less portion sizes

Please help Sad

Unfortunately OP there's no magic trick one of us is going to be able to tell you that will make things any easier. Motivation is great, but it is fleeting. As you've pointed out, what you need is discipline and that's something no one can force on you. You need to make a conscious decision to make healthy, sustainable choices and continue to make those choices even when you don't feel like it.

Personally, I've found a lot of success by following programs with clear guidelines vs. trying to come up with a plan myself. I am a big fan of Beachbody's workouts and nutrition plans and have had a ton of success there. Their 2B Mindset nutritional program is a personal favorite, because it doesn't feel like a strict "diet": www.beachbody.com/product/supplements/2b-mindset-streaming-online.do. Instead, you focus on learning to prepare healthy and delicious meals that will leave you satisfied instead of junk that leaves you feeling disappointed in yourself.

As for the exercise, it's the same thing. If you're paying for these classes, go. Don't make excuses, don't back out. Show up and participate, even when you don't want to. Eventually you'll form the habit and going won't be so tough, and eventually you may even like it. However, if the gym really isn't working for you consider some other options. Like I said before, I do most of my working out at home using one of BB's routines. Right now I've been revisiting their LIIFT4 program: www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/liift4-workout-streaming-online.do, but they have a ton of options. If you want to see if it might be a good fit for you I'd recommend taking them up on one of their two week free trials for the VOD service and trying a few on for size.

Sadly, if you continue on this path you'll reach the point where your health is severely compromised and it may be too late to fix it. If the thought of that isn't motivation enough, I don't know what else could be.

Have you tried MyFitnessPal?

Maybe not for everyone, but I find it motivating to be able to log my exercise, how much water I drink, put in my weight and see the graph dip (even if only a tiny bit)

I am a list fan, though, this stuff appeals to me :)

I’m exactly the same! I’m 14.5 and at 5ft 5.
Never been this fat ever, I’ve weighed myself today and given my scales to a friend so I can’t weigh myself for one month.
My problem is nighttime eating and lack of self control.
