Get me to a comfy size 10

Blankety30 · 23/10/2018 07:26

So I started a thread yesterday explaining I have a very carb heavy diet which I am trying to improve.

I currently squeeeeeeeze into a 12 but I want to comfortably fit into a 8/10 as I get married soon.

I'm not going to lie. I have been a PIG since my LO was born last year. Here's my food diary to help spur me along - feel free to join in!

How many eggs? Oil/butter or frylight? Try out myfitnesspal to get a look at your calorie and macro intake. Log everything.

I had two eggs and skimmed milk, made them in the microwave.

Any tips would be appreciated! Thank you

Try 2 egg whites, one yolk. No milk.
They also always taste better cooked on the hob. Non stick pan, no oil.

I like eggs with hot sauce, spinach, tomatoes and spring onion.

Little and often always the best way to go. Substitute and white carb with brown option, sweet potato instead of normal and halve the portion.

Are you a meat eater?

Up your exercise, hydrate (water, green tea especially), breakfast sounds healthy.

Don't throw the yolks there the best bit! Plus fat is fattening yes but also satiating.

I lost weight badly this time but in the past have done so well (stress this time, in the past diet and exercise, although the stress diet was quicker lol)

Eat 3 meals a day, cut your carbs down, watch that your fat portions aren't too big but don't cut it completely.

Snacks should be protein and/or a fruit/veggie but something small like a hard boiled egg or half an apple and 8 almonds, but really an adult shouldn't need more than one snack a day unless exercising.

Couldn't reccomend my fitness pal more... Didn't realise how many things I was low in and how out of whack my macros were.

Everyone is different and exercise can help but sometimes just increases your appetite so don't assume going to the gym will guarantee weight loss.

It's the 80:20 rule.
It's 20% exercise and 80% diet, no matter how fit you are X

Wonderful - thank you so much for your advice!

Carbs are definitely my problem. Trying to cut out my lunchtime sandwiches for salads as a starting.

Also - just joined a gym and I'm booked into two classes on Friday. Hoping now I'm actually dedicated to doing it, I'll get results!

Thanks everyone

And sorry, yes - I eat meat!

If you're a meat eater- try to eat less red meat. Eat turkey breast rather than chicken as it's leaner. Turkey mince as a substitute for beef or lamb (spaghetti Bol, chilli etc). Stay away from jar sauces, cook from fresh.

Good luck with your healthy journey!

Thanks for the advice @EvePolastriSorryBaby. It's appreciated!

Hoping to use this as a bit of a diary for myself 😀

Good plan re the swapping sandwiches for salads at lunch - I've been doing this recently and I think it's what's made the most difference. Plus I don't then feel guilty about having a proper supper e.g. pasta or a stir fry!

I don't believe in low fat mince particularly, you can get full fat and drain most of the fat off and it's half the price (nearly).

Salads sound like a good idea. Also up your veg with dinner. So if usually you'd have peas have peas and carrots. If you'd usually have peas and carrots have peas and carrots and broccoli etc.

All these foods are affordable and some foods like cabbage, broccoli and carrots get overlooked but actually are just as good for you (if not better and more affordable) than some so called "superfoods"

Stay away from faddy eating and make sensible choices (as it sounds like you are) to reduce carbs, increase veg etc.

Also remember even though fruit is good for you it is also sugary (the good sugar but still sugar) so try to stick to 1-2 portions of fruit a day and not dried stuff which you can eat a lot more of without realising it.

Good luck at the gym sounds like you are putting some positive steps in place. I find it helpful to have a mantra such as "I am a healthy person making better choices" which you take into all situations and can help you to stick to your guns step away from the buffet table

Thanks @bumblebee39 for the encouragement and positivity!

Some good tips - I generally reaaaaally enjoy veg anyway so I think it'll be easy for me to increase my intake of those. Just need to reduce portion sizes of what I'm having with it!

I'm also looking forward to my classes on Friday which I deliberately booked for Friday night so it would stop me drinking wine.

The struggle is real this morning!

Went with eggs again for breakfast but just had one this morning instead of 2. Had this at 7am and I'm feeling hungry already!

I have a banana and some nuts but trying to hold out until at leat 11 for a snack!

Weighed myself, just over a week since my last/first weigh in.

Exactly the bloody same. No decrease! 😩

A week is nothing. Keep going and make sure you eat enough so you aren't starving (you will not be able to sustain it).

I'm back in the single figures territory! Dropped back below 10st with 4lbs off.

Still about 12lbs to go until I'm happy. I guess the first part is the easiest and the next 12lbs will be the bit I can't get rid of 😂
