Am I eating OK? Health wise, will this help maintain my weight?(7 Posts)
Hi all. So I used to follow Slimming World and Weight Watchers but it is just too expensive to keep doing it especially now I have to pay childcare so that's saving me over £20 a month and my shopping bill has gone down a lot too. So I am basically doing it myself! I am not eating sugary food like biscuits, chocolates etc. I replace sugar with xylitol when I have coffee or tea. I drink skimmed milk, have weetabix so I do have a fair idea about what's good and what's bad for me. Just wondering if you think this meal plan is OK so far?
Day one -
3 eggs, 1 Wholemeal toast with lighter cheese spread, 3 bacon rashers with fat cut off
Snack: banana, satsuma and pea snack crisps from Aldi
Lunch: seeded flatbread with chicken, lettuce, Gouda cheese and a squirt of lighter than light mayonnaise with blueberries
Dinner: fish from Aldi (basa fillet), homemade chips and mushy peas
Day two -
Breakfast: Overnight porridge oats with strawberries and banana
Snack: satsuma and a slice of chocolate chip cake (literally the size of a thumb! Very small)
Lunch: flatbread with chicken, lettuce, cheese and mayonnaise (again for work), pea snack crisps, apple, and a low calorie hot chocolate drink
Turkey steaks topped with tomato purée and cheese, rocket salad, homemade vegetable couscous with roasted peppers
Day 1 breakfast is supposed to say 2 eggs, not 3!
OP I think you should use an online calculator to work out how many calories you need to maintain your weight and then use MyFitnessPal to keep track of how much you are eating and make sure it's the right amount. Everyone is different and none of us can tell you how much you need to eat to maintain your weight, especially as we don't know your age, current weight, height or how active you are.
Your diet looks reasonably healthy, but it looks like you're eating quite a lot. If that's the amount of calories you need to maintain your weight then there is no issue.
Well then keep doing what you are doing, mix it up a bit so you don't get bored and maybe weigh yourself once a fortnight to check everything is still OK?
Well done on your weight loss.
1,740 calories to maintain my weight
My very rough guess would say the food diary you give above is around 1700 calories. So assuming that's your total calorie intake, you should maintain according to my non-scientific estimate.
I would definitely gain weight on that amount of food. I am 10st 10lb, 5"3', run 5k every day and do a minimum 12000 steps a day.
It sounds fine to me.
Lots of protein.
