I over eat (binge chocolate) and don't exercise.

Loads of people have done it. Look up the internet for before and after pics. That kind of helps me keep focused. I'm on the same journey.

Yep! Pop on over to the 100lbs plus thread in this forum and join us.

Okay, I'm a few pounds off 5 stone currently, but 100lbs is just over 7 stone so we're all big losers. Grin

I have, it wasn't/isn't easy but not impossible!

I was 12st at 11 years old and hit my heaviest if 17st 11.5lbs when I was 26, I'm only 5"3 too.

I got down to 16st 2lbs by myself then decided that I needed a bit of help and joined Slimming World in May 2017, I'm now 11st 9lbs and aiming for target of 10st 12lbs although tbh I can't visualise that at all because I've always been big!

I'm also a binge eater but it's becoming less frequent and I'm more aware of it now than I was before so I can try to combat it but sometimes i slip back, I'm only human and don't beat myself up about it now.

Exercise wise my work is pretty active and I walk everywhere but other than that I've just started an Aquafit class once a week as I don't have much time or motivation for strict workouts although I do feel I need to focus more on toning now.

It can be done if you really want it!

I'm 5 foot 3.
Weight 01/01/2018: 17st 8.5 (BMI 43.8)
Current weight: 10st 12.5

That's 34 weeks if dieting. Attached are my achievements to the end of June (I've not screen shot my end-of-July achievements yet.

My sister did it. No idea about actual weight she lost, but she was around a size 24 and is now a 12.

For her it was a total life overhaul after her divorce. She eats very healthily, rarely eats chocolate, bread, junk food et. Doesn’t drink.

She does hot yoga four times a week which I think has also really helped.

She’s amazing. She was always chubbier than me when we were young and is naturally more inclined to put on weight, so losing so much is a real achievement. She keeps it off through the yoga but mainly the healthy eating. If we go for dinner she will always choose the healthy option. She doesn’t deny herself stuff however - if she fancies a sweet she’ll have one, but just one!

I think you have to go all or nothing for major changes and make the decision to stick to it.

I also know lots of people who have lost lots through slimming world so that could be worth looking at too.

Nothing fancy. I don't follow any commercial diet plans. Just basic understanding of healthy, low calorie eating.

  • I only eat at meal times. No snacking, ever.

  • I only eat whole foods (vegetables, lean meat, grains like oats and rice, pulses)

  • I don't eat anything processed (no bread, pasta, ready meals, premade sauces, biscuits, cakes etc)

  • I make everything from scratch and eat as family meals (I have 4 children, we all eat the same).

  • I have Sunday Dinner as a "treat meal" every week. The only meal I serve potatoes, we have yorkshire pudding, stuffing etc with my roast dinner and always have a proper pudding.

  • I only eat breakfast on heavy exercise days (when I do 10k plus run). Otherwise, no breakfast.

  • I ensure our meals are low calorie and low fat. Mostly just protein and vegetables.

  • I exercise every single day with no excuses. I run at least 5k every morning (my BMI was 35 when i started running, you can be obese and a runner). My steps are always above 12000 and usually closer to 20000

Another one for Slimming World here - chose it because I knew whatever I did would have to be forever, so there was no point starting something that banned pasta Grin In a little over a year I'm four and a half stone lighter, making progress on the one and a half still to go. I often find I need something to keep me going around 4, could be mental but that's OK - I have high protein yoghurt and some fruit. When possible, I try and make lunch low in carbs (thank goodness for home made soup, or omelettes!). Porridge or cereal and fruit at breakfast, plenty of veg on the plate before anything else, and for supper I definitely have pasta / potato / rice, along with chicken, turkey or fish.

Once I got to three stone off, I started couch to 5k mainly because it was free! To my shock I started to love it, so much that I'm a bit grumpy today because childcare fell through so I didn't get my run today...I would never have believed I'd say that a year ago.

So it can be done, but it's a long game so I've finally had to learn not to throw it all away because of one bad day / Christmas / dip into emotional eating - just to start the next choice fresh and carry on.

My sister lost 7 stone on slimming world. Stuck to it like glue and it took 3 years, plus lots of going to the gym, doing zumba and those obstacle course things where you get covered in mud. She looks amazing. My colleague at work also did slimming world and he started at 29 stone and is now 16. I'm still a fatty.

I've lost 6 stone. What I will say is that most diets do work. Its sticking to them that the problem. If you can find something that you can stick to you are onto a winner. My biggest recommendation would be going to a group and staying for the class. Don't just weigh and run. This is what helped me, the other people in the group are your support network and that's what I found kept me on track with losing weight and motivation.
Best of luck
