1YEAR - accountability thread, who's with me?!

Right.

I have a year to go until my wedding and a dress that's about 6 inches too small!

I am finally stopping the lose/gain cycle and cracking on for good - anyone want to join?

I have quite a bit to lose:

Heaviest weight 19st 13.5 BlushSad

Current weight after losing and gaining on slimming world: 17st 4 (242lbs)

Goal weight: 12st
Height 5'8", dress size 18

I'm following a mostly low carb diet of 1500 cals a day, and aiming to go to the gym 3x a week for one cardio and two strength sessions.

I want to use this post to share motivation and it makes me accountable to myself 💪🏻
If you feel brave enough please tell me about yourself!

I have 45 weeks (almost a year) until I turn 50.

Current weight 17st 1 (239lbs).

Goal weight 10st 10 (150lbs)

Height 5'7"

Size 18

I am doing Intermittent Fasting combined with calorie counting which I am aiming to keep lowish carb. I have bought some Exante products but I think I am going to wait until the holidays are over before I start on them.

For the next 3-4 weeks I am going to reduce calories and alcohol. On days when we we are at home I am going to aim for 800 cals as per Blood Sugar Diet. On days out/away I shall allow I more realistic 1200-1500 cals and try to be as low carb as possible.

I am going to start by doing 10,000 steps most days. I am thinking about joining a gym or getting a PT to show me how to do weights.

I do not want to be fat and fifty. I want to wear a stunning dress on my birthday and feel great in it.

I dont want Diabetes or Heart disease. I already have highish blood pressure and I don't want to start on medication. I want to see my children grown up and settled. I want to be fit enough to enjoy retirement with my husband.

I have a bit to lose as well - according to nhs bmi checker, I am obese and need to lose a minimum of 60lb to get into the healthy weight range.
Currently I weigh 13st but I'm only 5f3 so my bmi is 32.2.
I already do an outdoor exercise class 3 x per week ( at 06:15🙄) and have just started running again although not far and very slowly. ( used to run until Achilles issues)

Also just at the beginning of 2 weeks in Spain so can't start in earnest until.i get home but am trying to lower carbs and reduce alcohol a little but am planning no alcohol, low carb and 1200 calorie diet as soon as we get home. I have brought my fitbit and am walking/ running a little every morning to try and minimise gain whilst here.
Feel fat and disgusting.....

Welcome @Belindabelle and @AuntieMay
Sounds like you both know what you need to do so let's crack on? 💪🏻

Belinda what's Exante? Is it like Slimfast? I'm
Also with you on cutting out alcohol - unnecessary calories, but mostly because I always want junk food afterwards!!

@Auntie running is a great exercise, I used to run when I lost 4.5st and the inches literally melted off - I was also super slow and 5k took me 51mins the first time! Couch to 5k is a great app. I did two half marathons before a knee injury put a stop to it, and then the weight piled back on :(

Exante is a VLCD meal replacement. It has been used by people to lose weight and reverse diabetes. Lots of info in the press and on tv recently. The Great Diet Experiment might still be on catch up tv.

Shakes, bars and meals have around 200 cals. You have 3 a day along with some veg/salad to give you 800 cals a day. However I find them fairly high in carbs at around 20g each so I intend to have 1 or 2 products per day with a low carb meal.

Yes I used to run 10k regularly in under 1 hr but now I'm struggling to do 5k - however I've always been a winter runner and have never enjoyed running when it's not so hoping it gets better in Autumn.
I previously lost weight running with slimming world but stopped when I got Achilles tendinitis is first 1 leg then the other - was training for a half marathon at the time about 3 yrs ago.
I've put most of the weight on in the last 3 years and am the biggest I've ever been but will sort it finally this time with lifestyle change

I have just worked out that I want to lose 89lbs but lets round it up to 90lbs. With 45 weeks until my birthday that makes for a very achievable 2lbs loss per week. However it doesn't leave any room for mucking about so I am going to have to be serious about this from now on.

Hopefully I will more in the first few weeks which will help give me a little wiggle room for holidays/Christmas etc.

I am feeling very motivated today. Lets hope it continues. Thanks for starting the thread.

Hi! Hope I'm not too late to join you

Heavist - 249lbs
Lightest - 203lbs

Currently - 229lbs

I had DS in December and was 40 in March Shock

I need to lose 73lbs to get down to upper end of the NHS BMI calculator. Let's call it 75 - seems impossible at the moment the

I'm going to try 5:2 diet again. That's what I used before however I'm struggling as I'm still on Maternity leave and at home. I always found it easier when I was busy at work

I did my first fast today and came in about 800 which I'm happy with for my 1st attempt in 18 months

I don't have a special occasion to lose it for but am currently about 4 stone heavier than DP Confused

I would like to lose 56lbs.

Yes. 15 stone (heaviest I’ve ever been - lots of family issues this year). Ideally at Christmas i would like to be 10 stone. Going with a low cal diet as I have a lot of issues with moderating food so need something black and white.

Can I join in please! Weighed myself this morning & I'm 15.1 & only 5ft 2 so my bmi is about 39 which is horrific. I turned 40 this year & am sick of being overweight & tired all the time. I have lost weight in the past on weight watchers & Lipotrim & I think what worked was the weekly weight in, as it gave me some accountability. I'm currently on maternity leave so have no money for joining a club & am hoping posting on here will work instead. I am going to try the lose a stone in a month diet from a recent program I watched on channel 5. The meals look nice & I like that it's all planned out for me (as I'm lazy 😁).

Forgot to add the important bit - my goals!

Ideally I need to lose at least 6 stone to get to a healthy bmi, around 9 stone, I think that would take me to a size 12, am currently an 18. It was 7 stone I had to lose but I managed to lose 1 stone whilst being pregnant thanks to morning sickness & a complete loss of appetite. It's such a huge amount so I am breaking it up into smaller targets, I am aiming to:

Lose 1.5 stone before I go back to work in Oct (am desparate not to be the fattest person in the office any more 😣)

Lose 3 stone by Christmas

Lose the full 6 stone by next summer.

Hello, I'd like to join the 1 year thread.

I have less weight to lose than some. About 2 stone. But I really am struggling to do this - I just "can't" - and seem to be going in the other direction as well. I don't want to be very slim, a size 12-14 would be great. If I lost 20-30 pounds I'd also fit into my clothes better.

I really want to stick at it for a year, as well. There is no point in losing 20 pounds and then putting it back on again (the same with 10, 50 or 100 pounds).

I want to find a way of eating that 1. satisfies me, that 2. produces results and 3. that I can maintain long-term. I can do only minimal exercise as have ME/CFS. So its just a short walk a day at the most, or occasional swim. I also really want to try and take care of my body, mind and soul more generally. So here goes.

The thing is shall I start today or tomorrow? Smile

Here goes. Will report back how this is going once a week.

I should add re. my relationship with food. I am a bit of a foodie. Plus my health issues re. inability to exercise doesn't help. I eat reasonably healthily most of the time, but I have a sweet tooth which I mostly control, but sometimes go off the wagon, so to speak. I think I have got into a slight pattern recently after a couple of holidays of eating more than usual and am finding it hard to rein this back in. A few weeks of doing this will hopefully reduce my appetite. I can be a bit "all or nothing" and this is something I need to also address. Plus I like to be "free" and eat "intuitively", and often can. However, at the moment eating freely and intuitively means eating too much, so though I don't like rules I am going to have to bring some rules in to help with this. What rules I am not sure yet, will have to ponder a bit more. (I know lots and lots about dieting - low carb, IF, calorie controlled, etc etc, I am just going to have to choose something that is satisfying and sustainable).

Hello everyone,

I'd like to join this too - not least because a few of you have significant amounts to lose so I feel among friends - although I'll still be nice to mixedBouquet Grin

i'm 15, 7
have lost before but put it all back

Low carbing now - one successful week behind me, currently it's stalled a bit but I know I need to be patient and weight loss is not linear. The key to success is consistency - and keeping my head in the game.

Which is where this thread could come in.

Shall we have a weigh day - what do you think OP?

Report
Carolwithane · 26/07/2018 19:43

I've had two successful fast days this week and will weigh in tomorrow morning. I prefer to weigh in on a Friday - before the weekend excess Grin.

I forgot to add my goals

1 to 1.5 stone off before going to Budapest at the end of Sept
2 stone off by Xmas
Full 75lbs lost by next summer

Good luck everyone Smile

Can I join too?..currently almost 13 stone, rather annoyed with myself. But I’m hopefully in the frame of mind to eat better.

So start weight is 12 stone 10lb (was 13 st 2lb at start of month)

Goal is 10 stone by time i’m 40 in January
And to be excercising regularly if that’s possible.

Struggle with low calorie but filling meals and I work shifts. Would be good to have a bit of accountability and support x

Hi I’d love to join in! Realistically I have about 3 or 4 stone to lose. I’d like to lose 2.5 stone by the beginning of December (2lbs a week) so like a pp said: doable but no room for mucking about! I’m eating 1500 calories a day and tracking everything, and doing daily yoga and crunches and planking.

I loved couch to 5k, running is awesome, but I struggle to get out at the minute. I go to yoga once a week though, it’s lovely!

Not doing so well here.

Coming to the end of 2nd week of low carb and this week was not as good as week 1.

Slipped a bit I think and I don't think LC is very forgiving.

Weekend at friends will involve alcohol but will try to keep on track with the food and not get disheartened.

Impressed with some of the exercise going on here! In this heat.

@flyright completely agree.

Had one cheat day (sugary sauce on ribs, tacos and pizza and beer as part of a catered for event) and a few more sweet treats and I've gained 8lbs wtf! Hoping it's mainly water!

Excellent @Carolwithane what a start!

Welcome @lastqueenofscotland and others, of course you can all join!

Very impressed at your holiday exercise @AuntieMay !! I have a PT session tonight for an hour but it won't undo all of my sins this week but it's a start lol
