Desperate times, desperate measures - VLCD

Hi all,

I've worked out that I've been on a diet for around 25 years, which feels insane, especially given that I'm currently the size of a small country and can't tie shoelaces without almost fainting!

My life is wonderful but every single day, my weight takes the shine of the happiest days. After a week's holiday, which was glorious, except for the moments in a swimsuit, I've decided enough is enough. Desperate times call for desperate measures and after a lot of soul-searching and a LOT of research, I've decided to bite the bullet (not literally - it's against the plan) and tomorrow I start on the Cambridge diet.

I don't know what I'm looking for. Support and company, I guess. I don't mind admitting I'm worried about how I'll stick with it, given that so much of our life is built around food and drink (no wonder I'm so overweight) but I've been massively inspired by the amazing success stories I've seen. I know all of the 'but once you start eating normally, the weight will pile back on' viewpoints, but that's the same for all diets. I'm determined that this time I'll ditch the bad habits and the emotional connection I have to food, and I'm horribly impatient and I know I'll need to see results quickly to keep me going.

So, is anyone else on a VLCD? I'd love some company...

I’m going to start one again. All I know is food leads to more and more food and I need to get my moderation in check. I’m huge now (weigh at least 15 stone) and it’s the biggest I’ve ever been and I’m uncomfortable and ashamed.

Oh Kate, I hear you. Ashamed is exactly how I feel too, and I'm at least a stone above you. My life is so busy, I struggle to prep decent healthy food, and my downfall is going without and then 'rewarding' myself in the evening as I feel so hungry. Idiotic, I know. I'm hoping that just having shakes, soups or bars will mean I stay more in control and food just becomes fuel.

UninspiringUserName have you looked at the 10week vlcd thread on here.

We're doing various plans but all vlcd.

I’ve eaten some chocolate and crisps this morning but no more. Dreading the hell wave where I’ll heat up like a fat little weeble.

I've just started a VLCD, 3 shakes a day, coffee and water, nothing more. I've gone from a size 10 to a size 14 in less than a year and I've had enough.

Hope you do great on your diet, the first week is the hardest but after that it gets easier!

Hey Katie, oh I so know those days where all you fancy is rubbish. I hear you re this heatwave too. Summer is not a plump girl's friend!

Wolf, well done! I'm now on day two and I'm on three Cambridge packs a day and so far, so good. Bad headache, but so far, it's doable. I've had a shake this morning, and am on about 2.5ltrs of water, and about to have my second pack of the day. Bring it on.

Minnie, I did see it yes, and will pop on over. I didn't want to intrude, as silly as that sounds...
