Would anyone be interested in an Exante support thread?

Hi everyone

Following on from the thread about the programme about 'crash diets'. I am intending to use Exante to kick start my weight loss, initially for two weeks but possibly longer if it goes well. I will probably be starting in a week or so (I have been unwell and currently getting over that before trying to lose weight).

Would anyone who is thinking of doing this or already following the plan be interested in a support thread?

xx

I recently lost 3 stone on the plan but put one back on so following the Keto Diet now. The weight loss is slower but I needed to eat!

Oh yes please. I placed my order on Wednesday. Can’t decide whether to go the whole hog of three replacements a day, or two plus one clean meal per day, or 5:2.

But I need to shift what I’ve gained since my mobility has been impaired.

I have put on a lot of weight in a short time due to medication so I am thinking of doing the three shakes a day initially. I've had a look at the website and at the moment I'm not planning on using the bars or meals etc, just shakes but would love to hear what others have used and liked. Which flavours of the shakes did you like the best ChocolatePeacock and how long did people or are people planning on doing it for?

Come over to the 10 week VLCD thread and join in with us! I’ve done VLCD before and lost a lot of weight but put it back on due to my own poor habits.

I’ve just finished my first week of Exante and I’ve really enjoyed the products. They are so, so much better than they were when I first tried them three years ago!

Thanks amusedbush I'll head over there and thanks for the info on the products, I'm worried I won't like them! Any particular favourites?

I’ve really enjoyed the banana shake, the cherry and berries, the chocolate mint and the strawberry and banana smoothie. I also like the jam bars and the peanut butter bars!

The mushroom pasta one is lovely and because it's got some texture to it feels like you're actually eating something!!

Thanks! I'd intended to just stick with shakes but wondering now whether to try some of the bars etc....by the way, how long have people done this diet for? I was thinking of between 2-4 weeks to kickstart my weightloss but open to doing it longer if it goes well.

Last time I did it I lost three stone in ten weeks, then I was ill for several weeks and fell off the wagon. Went to Slimming World and lost more weight, then gained it ALL back since November last year Sad

I’m planning to do this for as long as possible as I have almost five stone to lose.

That's a great loss amusedbush! - if I start next week as planned I will have exactly 20 weeks until I go on holiday. It's my first holiday in years and I'd love to feel good about myself but have about 5 stone to lose. Do you think I could make a big difference in that time?

I have 4st 10 until my target and I’m hoping to be there by the time we go on holiday, so there’s no reason you can’t be at/close to target for yours!

Sorry, I thought this was on the big thread, where I’ve talked about my holiday before! My holiday is in 21 weeks, aiming for just over 3lbs a week average between now and then to get to target.

@Gemi33
I have just ordered the 4 week deal from exante. I'm guessing they don't deliver on a Sunday so hopefully it'll come earlyish on Monday. I have a lot to lose so not sure on targets etc

What happens when you finish the 4 week deal or whatever? Do you just go to healthy eating within a certain calories range? Don’t you put weight on after it even if you have, say 1200 calories a day?

Report
amusedbush · 24/06/2018 13:21

You buy another four weeks, repeat until you are at your goal. You then refeed over a few weeks, slowly increasing the calories and decreasing VLCD products until you’re at your maintenance calories.

Thank you. Sorry another question or 2!

When doing it would the results be drastically reduced if one day for an event you didn't have shakes and had more food/alcohol?

Can you do it for 4 weeks or 8 weeks to get the bulk of your weight off and then revert to healthy eating/calorie counting to get the rest off?

How filling are the shakes? Do you feel hungry all the time? And do you have energy for exercising?

Report
MagentaRocks · 24/06/2018 13:43

I was thinking if doing the man plan for 4 to 8 weeks then go back to having healthy evening meal then back to healthy lunch.

From what I can see you have 3 shakes or bars or meals then 200 calories from the approved list.

Alcohol is a strict NO while on plan, it can be fatal to drink while in ketosis. You must kick yourself out of ketosis the day before you consume alcohol by eating carbs.

Any off plan days will result in a large gain of water weight which will come off again when you return to plan. However every time you knock yourself out of ketosis your hunger and cravings will come back and it can take several days to get past that.

If you do the man plan or eat your own meal you need to keep the carbs to a minimum to stay in ketosis. If you’re not in ketosis on the plan you will be STARVING all the time, have cravings and you will not be burning your fat stores for energy. The whole point of the plan is to stop burning glycogen (sugar/carbs) for energy and start using your own body fat as fuel.

You can definitely lose a lot of weight and then switch to a different plan but be prepared for a weight gain before it slowly starts coming off again. That is just your glycogen stores filling up again when you eat normal food.

Oh and I don’t exercise apart from lots of walking. I will go back to my normal gym classes when I’m weaning myself off shakes and am on more calories.

Thank you. I will give it some thought. I want to be able to keep exercising. I do a session with a personal trainer for an hour every week and exercise on other days too, usually at home on the treadmill doing weights. I have 2 events between now and end of August that will involve eating out and alcohol and 1 event that is just eating out so it would only be 5 days off plan out of the whole time if I eat carbs the day before I go out to the alcohol events which isn’t too bad I suppose. I can cope with getting hunger pangs again as long as I don’t pile on half a stone after each event! I shall do a bit if research and see how I feel about it.

Report
amusedbush · 24/06/2018 19:57

To be honest you MIGHT put on half a stone after each event, but it would just be glycogen/water weight. That would come off over three or four days when you get back on plan afterwards.

MagentaRocks · 24/06/2018 20:31

Thanks, I have been doing some research on the alcohol thing and there are certain drinks you can have that are ok, vodka being one of them! I am going away in September too so if I can get a good few stone off by then I can try and be as healthy as possible when away then get right back on it before my holiday in December. I have emailed exante asking if I can have a copy of the ebook before I order so I can get set in my mind what I want to do and order.

Watching as I’m considering doing shakes again. Probably three meals a day some days and two meals a day on others. I lost a stone and a half earlier in the year through calorie counting and now I just keep pinging up and down the same 4lbs. I’d like to lose another two stone so wondering about a short burst on shakes again, I’m getting so despondent seeing the same numbers all the time.
