What didn't you eat today?

I Thought I'd start a thread for those who know the theory of healthy eating and, like me, probably do eat 3 healthy well-balanced meals each day, but who also manage to eat a ton of crap in between.

I don't need diet advice, I need willpower. I thought it might be motivating to record what I'd resisted. I have 1 stone 11lbs to lose.

So today I said no to deep fried chicken, second portions and a flake. I also didn't take my purse out when I dropped dd's friend home, so I didn't nip to the shop for a treat.

Anyone else want to join in?

I didn't buy chocolate or an éclair from the lovely bakery to binge on while ds was at creche, I didn't even root in the presses for dark chocolate or a biscuit. I haven't had anything sweet other than fruit since Saturday, a record for me!

Rather than willpower, you need to use your WHYpower - be really clear and specific about why you want to lose weight
E.g I want to lose weight because I want to take part in the parents race at school sports day and embarrass my child by crossing the line 10mins after everyone else or I want to ride a horse but am over the weight limit

Today I resisted the iced buns that were reduced in Tesco

On a daily basis I have to resists so much it breaks my heart. Today we had a work event and they laid on tray fulls of pastries and I didn't have any. That said, there are things I'd find much harder to resist so it could have been worse. Every time I am queuing to pay in a shop I resist things especially when the queue takes you past crisps, chocolate and the ice cream freezer.

I've been so good today! (Because I knew I was going to come on here) I hope that effect lasts. I love the idea of WHypower @Blondie1984, haven't come across that before. My 'why' is to get in and out of a wetsuit elegantly on a beach this summer Grin

Today I didn't have chocolate at lunch time (a daily offering from my boss at work), didn't have anything to eat with a takeaway coffee, and didn't have a whole pizza or chips for tea. I also have had biscuits in my bag from a training session yesterday - and I didn't eat those!

@OohOohMrPeevly Shop queues are the worst - OneStop and Morrisons being particularly bad. If it's too late to order on line I go to Sainsburys. Nothing tasty in the queue area there, at least in the one by me.

Brilliant @Foggymist! What did you resist today.

Well it turns out I've lost about 4.5lbs in 4 days by not eating all the lovely sweet things, so to celebrate I had a beer. I made scones with fresh raspberries and coconut, left out the sugar, so that's me still avoiding sugar for a 5th day whilst also managing to celebrate!

Oh and I saw an unattended abandoned still wrapped caramelised biscuit at a soft play centre, and I didn't steal it. I adore them, that's a big deal!

I didn’t go to the chocolate vending machine at work today, even though it wasn’t a fasting day (I do 5:2) and work was quite stressful. I also didn’t buy a sandwich at Sainsbury’s for tomorrow’s lunch, I bought a salad at half the calories. Also went for a (short) run. Did eat pizza for dinner though.

Well done, that's amazing!

I'm weighing daily at the moment, but I know my weight fluctuates madly on a day to day basis, so I'm only going to record it weekly.

currently not eating chocolate or drinking milky coffee.

Had a really shit day and little food in the house so said to DH we would just get a takeaway. Then I reconsidered, thought about how hard I had been trying this week and had tuna steak and a baked potato instead- no veggies but still better than takeaway.

I resisted crumble and custard - one of my absolute favourite things...was very grumpy for about an hour after but glad now that I didn't have it

DD and I baked a cake this morning and I resisted having a piece.
I also resisted having any bread at lunch. Bread is my downfall!

Thank you for this thread Smile

When I see stuff now that I could eat I just remember how disappointed I am in my self as soon as I have eaten it.

Also. My jeans are to big now. So wearing them everyday makes me feel so good.

Today I resisted beans on toast and chocolate cake which I served my nan and lunch for tea. I clean eat so I don't normally eat that kind of stuff anyway but it smelt so good.

@Myownwendyhouse that's exactly it, I've been eating what I want for months "because I'm breastfeeding", eating any sweet things I can when I get a minute alone, and then feeling horrible and pathetic for eating them. So anytime I think I want to do it I remember how good I'll feel if I manage to resist.

I was out all day/evening so ate out for lunch and dinner. Chose a pret salad over a baguette! And then went to a burger place for dinner and went bunkers. Very proud!

Went out today with DD on a playgroup trip and the lunch menu was just burgers and junk food so I packed a chicken pasta salad and took that with me for mine Smile

Not the best day ever, but I managed to not have a few things: Second helpings at lunch and dinner (this included mac n cheese, bacon, fried potatoes). I also didn't have any chocolate after lunch or brownies after tea.

Also, I was out shopping on my own today for a few hours and didn't buy ANYTHING to eat! Shopping on my own is my achilles heel. No one knows you see Hmm

@GlassSuppers you're welcome. I'd been thinking about it for a while. Recording what I eat does nothing for me, and I kid myself about what I've had. I wanted somewhere to celebrate my moments of strength.

Well done all - keep making good choices. @Blondie1984 I would definitely have caved at crumble and custard. Kudos to you!

Don't know if anyone else is still out there, but I'm going to keep posting as I'm finding that it really is helping me to resist all the lovely sweet things

Sat: went out for a meal and didn't have a starter, pudding or coffee.
Sun: didn't have any snacks after tea (they were offered).
Today: no second helpings at lunch or tea.

And I haven't bought myself any 'treats' at all on any of the days.

I'm still here!

Well done on resisting at the weekend!

Yesterday I had a kids meal from BK for lunch instead of my usual large meal with added onion rings & cheese bites Blush and then had scrambled egg on toast for tea so I managed to stay within my calorie goal.
On a normal day I would have had my usual huge BK and then a big dinner as well so that's a small victory for me!

McDonalds and chocolate so far! And lunch (meal replacements!)

Had visitors staying this weekend so it was difficult to make healthy choices - we had biscuits and cakes with our tea, went out for meals and had wine. Anyway, back on the clean eating wagon and done some exercise these last two days. DH and I decided to order a takeaway last night as we were too knackered to cook but I ordered chicken shazlick and salad rather than the full works. Too ashamed to weigh as excess food always spikes my weight so going to step on the scales tomorrow.

Well done @GlassSuppers. I used to get a kids spicy beanburger from BK, with a fruit bag and a cup of tea. It was great, but they don't seem to do them any more and I can't find an alternative that I like. Just have a packet of fries now if we go as I hate sitting there with nothing while the kids tuck in. But it's not the same.

I surpassed myself on Tuesday as I went to Ikea and didn't have ANYTHING eat! Not a daim bar, hot dog or even an obligatory meatball. Didn't even bring anything home from the shop either. Unheard of.

Weighed on Weds and I have lost 1lb. Slow and steady wins the race though I reckon so I'm happy with that. 1st 10lb to go

I have also reduced my breakfast by half yesterday and today. I usually make enough smoothie for 2, but I halved the ingredients and it was ok. I was only just hungry by lunchtime but managed not to have a snack and just ride out the 15/20 mins with a glass of water.

Also said no to seconds at lunches all week. I get lunches provided for me at work and it's very easy to over eat.

I’m on day two of a fairly major change to my habits, this thread is a great idea!

I’ve resisted a spoonful of sugar in every coffee yesterday and today (I drink a lot of coffee), I also dodged a mid afternoon treat, usually a Bounty or KitKat. I also tried cauliflower rice instead of basmati rice which was ...... interesting!

Baby steps and early days I know but it feels good Smile

Well done Pascall on the weight loss and progress!

My weigh in day is Sunday. Fingers crossed for a loss!

I haven't had more than 50g of carbs a day for the last week-and-2-days (less that 20g a day for the last 2 days!) - it's not as hard as I thought it would be - I've managed to resist my usual sugar, chocolate, potatoes and pasta and my main addiction which is biscuits.

In that week I've lost 2 1/2lbs and 1/2" off waist and hips and I haven't felt hungry once!
