Hello Celeb
I just came on to start a thread saying I cannot believe what I have become, I am horrified and embarrassed that I am 5-6 stone overweight and am now desperate to sort it out, your post caught my eye and I am off to Google the juice diet

Is this the Jason Vale thing? I found the juices surprisingly nice and surprisingly filling but god it's a faff. So much washing up! And very expensive. I loved having so much fresh food but as I am notoriously useless at sticking with anything to do with losing weight, I only lost a few pounds but quite quickly.

Don't be tempted to go off track too far with recipes - do not mix fruit and vegetables in the same juice (except I think carrots and apples) or you will have the most terrible shits

I didn't realise how over weight I had become until I saw photos of myself at a family party. I also applied for an event and was told my BMI was too high.

I need a good kick start. I've been dieting for a month, I turned vegetarian, cut out bread, have been eating so much veg and salad and I'm the same weight :(

I saw someone on Mumsnet mention this diet and watched the documentary on Netflix.

If anyone else is thinking of starting would love a metaphorical hand to hold x

I have just ordered the book Celebrity, am hoping this will be the kickstart I desperately need, I have to make drastic changes as my comfort eating is out of control, I medicate feelings with food and have done for years, talk about letting myself go, I used to be super fit and toned and tend to hide away as much as possible now due to embarrassment at what I have become. xxx

Oh god you and me both user. I'm due to meet someone next week who I haven't seen for over a year who's a judgmental twat anyway and I'm dreading what he'll say at the sight of me. Maybe I should juice between now and then. At least my skin will be lovely

You sound like me. I comfort eat terribly. I'm just so embarrassed of myself.

I have no photos of myself on FB bar one that's at least 2 years old when I was skinnier.
I need to do this

... skips off to find book

I did the Jason Vale diet and whilst the juices were lovely, it was quite expensive and you end up throwing away all the good fibre.

I would suggest watching The Truth About Carbs. It really scared me thinking about becoming diabetic, and I have changed my diet as a result. Have lost half 4lbs so far and not really felt hungry.

Lots of fresh vegetables, wholegrain, nuts and chicken.

Just another thought for you!

Thanks for replies, maybe we can keep each other going on this thread, the juicing thing seems a bit daunting, loads of prep, making sure you have all the right ingredients etc, and I am not great with veg juice, would like fruit based ones only, but am looking forward to reading the book when it arrives as it may be motivation, I know success in everything is all about mindset, when your head’s in the right place the battle is won, so I will focus on how this situation cannot continue, how bad do I have to get? What will it take? When I am immobilised at home due to extreme obesity? Because if I carry on this way that could be a serious prospect in the future. So I have to break this food addiction and get mentally and physically healthy xxx

How about some talking therapy too OP? It's great to have a plan, but if you have identified that you have an addiction to food, or disordered eating, then I think you need to tackle the root of the issue, as well as your diet. As far as I know, you can self-refer to 'Time to Talk', although that may depend on the area you live in. It's important to get to the root of why you are an emotional eater/binger, as anything else will just act as a sticking plaster. Hence many people seem to go on and off different diets over very long periods of time. They lose weight then gain it again so keep buying back into the diet industry (which makes ££££ and relies on repeat custom!)

Are you planning to exercise too? It is true that diet is a bigger factor than exercise in terms of weight loss, but such a lot can be achieved with some resistance work in terms of fat loss and muscle growth. When you begin to replace fat with muscle, people usually find their body looks so much 'better', even if they have not actually lost any weight at all. Try not to get bogged down by numbers on a scale; body measurements can tell you so much more. Chest, waist and hip measurements, repeat measurement every 4 weeks. The scales that show fat % are not terribly accurate, but give a good estimate, and if you stick to the same scale, will at least show progress over time. Aiming for a body fat % of 25 is a good goal for most women.

Hope all goes well!
