Friend insulted my weight

Ok this is bit of a dilemma, two years ago a very close male friend of mine suddenly said whilst he was very drunk 'look at the f ing state of you. You used to be so skinny and gorgeous now look at you.
I was not drunk and I was quite gobsmacked. In fact devastated. A further slight in the same evening when a group photo was taken and the same friends wife laughed hysterically at the photo and commented look at the size of your arm. They are quite a sarcastic pair and being blunt is quite normal for them. Both were slaughtered However the incident was so hurtful to me I have actively avoided the pair of them for two years now, missing many social events in the process.
Last week I was invited by another of our friends to a very glam party. I know this couple will be there. I am very torn whether or not to go. The last event really traumatised me. I'm still a size 14 like I was that night two years ago. I feel like my weight will be the main thing on my mind. To go or not to go that is the question.
Sometimes meeting up with old friends when you've changed and gained weight can be difficult.

That was a bit mean, but you don't have to care what they think.

They sound like utter arseholes! Drunk or not that’s horrible and a size 14 isn’t big. I’d go but wouldn’t bother with them. If anyone has anything to worry about it’s them and their stupid and nasty comments.

I would rather be a size 14. Which is the size I am. Than be the horrible person that they are. I'm sorry they have made you feel like that. I would not go. Just because I wouldn't want to spend time with people who think that sort of thing is acceptable.

There’s nothing wrong with size 14? can’t avoid them forever.

They're awful. Go, and have a good time, ignoring them in the process.

Wow. Sorry you had to go through that.
A size 14 is perfectly ok I think, and in any case they had no right to talk to you like that, drunk or not.
If you actually want to go to the party, missing it because of two idiots is going to make you feel really miserable.
What I would do: go on a liquid diet to try to drop down to a 12 by then,( though you don't have to!! ), glam myself up to the nines and turn up and enjoy myself like crazy without looking at them once. They don't deserve any headspace. Life is so very short. Have fun.
Let us know how it went if you go. You sound very nice and I would love to hear you went and had a lovely time. 💐💐💐
