If you’re 5’4 and 1.5 stone over weight ...

How did you lose weight- What worked for you? I have the cliche pouch and after a giant last child a super stretched skin, tbh if I didn’t have this I’d be ok, but it looks bloody awful and turning 40 soon heading on girls holiday abroad I want to do something about it
People are polite but surprised by my stomach because ‘you’re so fit’ (it’s all relative I guess)
I honestly have little time to do more exercise, I am fit having recently trained for events, and enjoy it but work and childcare position means I only have about 5-6 hours sleep as it is- to give you an idea on time issue

So- I eat well, and exercise 1 x cardio and 1 x weight bear session a week, try and do 8-10k steps a day, and can’t wedge more in,

How can I lose weight & tone?.... I am about 10st and I want to be at 8.5 ideally in 4 weeks- I know that will make sag worse but at least thinner?
I don’t eat dairy or bread or pasta now, so processed carbs are relatively limited
I do eat a bit of something sweet each day like 1 biscuit etc but surely dropping the 100 cal a day on that won’t do it?
I drink usually 2-3 glasses of wine a week unless an event. This is only vice
Would I be as well doing Cambridge etc?
Thanks

Following as I’m the same height as you and weigh 9 and a half stone and ideally want to loose a stone. I carry all my weight on my bum, hips and thighs. I look odd as I have a tiny frame then this huge bum and sticky out hips. I can’t teally exercise hard as I have health issues.

Stick rigidly to 1200 a day and it will come off.

I'm 5' 4" and was at least 1.5 stones overweight after having my second giant baby. With you on the diastasis recti too Hmm

Low carb was brilliant for me. I never felt hungry or deprived (and I tried 5:2 for a while - god that was miserable) despite not being allowed to eat a lot of the things I loved. The need to lose the weight was bigger than my love of cake!

Have a browse of the Bootcamp section. They're really helpful.

DC2 is now 21 months old and after a long winter/spring of binge eating takeaways and stodgy food and just generally letting myself go I'm using Ramadan fasting to kickstart things and get back to my normal self.

5ft5 and used to be size 6/8 but have crept up to a size 10 and hate not being able to wear my old stuff anymore. And I don't want to get a new wardrobe of clothes in my new size, just don't have the time to shop or the money.

So far its been just over a week and already I'm noticing trouser waists feel more comfortable, not cutting into me anymore, just need to get rid of the love handles Sad, the over hang from the c sections will probably be there permanently but I'm hoping in about three weeks time I'll be closer to my old self again.

Once the fasting is over I must not to let this happen again as I can never make time for myself to go the exercise route. Restricted food intake is my only way of shifting the weight and then hopefully maintaining the weight should be easier through my normal eating habits.

Thanks all, interesting a few others in same boat. I guess it’s nothing new but since I was over 35 I’ve noticed what could shift in a week of being good takes me a month of hard graft now and wondered what I was missing , but because I’ve never been truly over weight ie 10-12 biggest but still fit found it harder to understand what actually drives benefits more

I'm also 5ft 4 and my heaviest weight was 10st 3 (and that was when DD was 14!) I did 5:2 for about five months and lost 2 stone.

Four years later and way too much sugary crap and I was back to 9st 11. I've been doing the Blood Sugar Diet for the last four weeks and lost almost a stone. Staying away from the sugary crap has been doing me the world of good. Loads of weight has gone from my waist, thighs and tummy and I was the same shape as you. I'm away from tomorrow until Sunday but when I get back I'm going straight back on it with the aim of losing another half stone by August. Then I will do 6:1 to maintain as I know it worked last time, and not eating is easier than controlling my food for me, especially if you awaken the carb monster, he NEVER wants to go back in his cage. Avoiding bread, pasta, crackers etc has been easy and I look at pastries and biscuits and know that I want to lose this weight and look better more than I want to eat that sh*t.

By the way, I'm 50, so don't write off your weight loss potential just yet!

At 10 stone you are not 1.5 stone overweight.

pickachew I think overweight in this context is meant on a personal level. Just because your BMI is 24 point something doesn't mean you look and feel how you want to. I know that despite being an apparently healthy weight, carrying excess weight around my middle is bad for my health and so is eating badly, and I know that my body looks much better and I feel much better about myself and my wellbeing below 8 and a half stone, which is also a healthy weight.

Thanks the sugar is interesting, I lost all the stubborn fat a few years ago in just a few weeks but now I don’t really eat it so it’s less obvious!
Pika- so maybe overweight was wrong choice of words but I know it’s not my healthiest and I’m now very much in age cat where that is the optimum goal- weight on tummy is not healthy anyway and this impacts my mental wellbeing a lot too. FWIW I think we have also got so acustommed to seeing obese we have normalised that extra stone which in itself is a ticking health issue for many
