8 weeks to lose a stone

Who’s up for losing a stone in the next 8 weeks?
I’ve had a terrible year so far- chronic health problems, 2 miscarriages, depression...
In short I’ve gained a lot of weight and really want to lose at least a stone of it before a holiday in July.
Thinking I’m going to try low carb when possible as that seems to suit my body.
No friends to do this with in real life so does anyone want to join me?

Oh OP. Sounds like you’ve really been through the mill.
I have about 3 stone to lose. I’ve been saying all year that I’m going to lose it but I can’t get into the right frame of mind/get organised.
I’m toying with the idea of slim fast so I don’t have to think about preparing food too much.

Meeeeeee!!!!
I need to lose 2stone at least
I have comfort eaten (and - sorry - drunk too much) over the past two years. I was widowed very suddenly and I still struggle (my DP died not that long after I lost my DF and my DM died six months after so that was hard)
Cue not giving a flying f* about what I ate, drank or looked like....
But I know my DP would be willing me to get my act together
I have my nephews wedding to go to in July and I would love to be at least half way to my goal.
I was thinking about the Blood Sugar diet. A friend had some success with that. Although it's quite hardcore....?

Heartshapedfairylights And thiswontendwell- Let's help each other get, and stay, motivated and see if we can all lose a stone in the next 8 weeks

Thiswontendwell- that's a huge amount to deal with- I'm sorry for your losses- sometimes food is such a comfort, even though it's so temporary.

Ideally I'd like to lose 2 stone to get back to where I was but I just need to see some progress to get me motivated.

Is the blood sugar diet just low carb/ low gi or are there other criteria?

I have been messing about for the last year - losing 5 pounds and then regaining those same pounds. So stupid and I cannot blame anyone else which is really annoyingGrin. I am (usually) excellent during the week and then from Friday evening it all falls apart.

I would love to join you.

I have had five Shelties, but only ever one at a time - my husband would divorce meGrin. My parents bought me one as a Christmas present when I was 6 and have had one more or less since then. Do you have a Sheltie now? I have Misty who is almost six and gorgeous! Smile

Yes, me! Hello.

I have about 10 pounds to lose but a stone would be great. I've been ignoring a steady gain for a few weeks now.

I won't be doing a specific diet. Just less food, make it healthy and move more.

Me too. Holiday in August. Would like to lose three stone, but one is obviously more realistic.
I lost 5 stones a few years ago with slimming world and am so cross that I allowed three to creep back on

I am doing my fitness pal and have started going to the gym. I am wary of any sort of extreme diet, I worry about what yo yo dieting can do to your metabolism.

Meeee! Also yo yo'ing all over the place and dithering about.

Work from home a lot so not very disciplined, but am on week 3 of c25k, so moving a bit more at least!

Schools break up in 8 weeks so a stone off by the end of July is my goal.

Will be doing MFP and avoiding the vino!

I'm in. I am so appalled at how much weight I have put on. I want to cry!

Me!!! I have a very fancy work thing coming up in 8 weeks funnily enough, and need to wear a special uniform over my own clothes. I am determined not to look as huge or as exhausted as I do now.
Need to cut down on the coke, crisps and in between snacking!

Me! I had about 2.5/3 stone to lose when I started trying 4 weeks ago. I did three weeks on SlimFast to give me a bit of a kick start and get me out of the snacking habit and no have moved to general calorie counting. (I started to miss ‘proper’ food!)
I’ve lost 12lbs so far, but think a lot of that is beginners luck so think the rest will be harder to shift!

Look at blood sugar diet op. I lost more than a stone in 8 weeks.
Sorry you’ve been through the mill, hope your holiday is fantastic .

I'm up for it. I've been trying to eat less and move more for a few weeks now, and the weight just isn't coming off as quick as I would like. I need a more nuclear option.

Me! I’m in. I have already lost a stone this year, and have another couple to lose, but this is a good motivation to join with you all and lose the second stone by mid-July.

Can I join too please? I've lost a stone and a half since Christmas and need to lose another stone / stone and a half. Reached a bit of plateau and need to refocus.
Have got a wedding early July and holiday in August to aim for.
Using MFP and lowish carbs - using oat products to reduce cholesterol. Need to stick to my calorie limit of 1200 but have been sneaking over most days recently 😬

Yes, I’m in! A stone would get me where I want to be. I’ve been trying to lose the post-baby stone and a half for (ahem) eight years! I have been doing My Fitness Pal and cycling (with OH, who has more to lose than me ). So I’m half a stone down, one to go. Thanks for starting the thread OP, and sorry you’ve had a terrible time x

Me... please.

Every one has been through a far worse time than me. My health is a bit wonky (as yet undiagnosed), which throws me sometimes, but also I've slipped back into just eating what I want, which unfortunately is not what's good for me. It's a vicious circle.

MrsMozart · 20/05/2018 08:40

What's the plan? Do we put our starting weight and update weekly?

I admit I have to be quite focused to stay focused if that makes sense.

I'm also in. I started with a PT 3 weeks ago. 15 stone on start day, 15.2 2nd week, 15.0 3rd week, 14.9 on Friday !!!! I've cut down my carbs, cut out the crap (apart from a daily orange ice lolly) eating more veg & salad - and biggest of all trying to achieve 8000 steps a day - but that's only been the last week and that's when the weight has dropped off. I have a very sedentary job and I work from home a lot so my steps tend to be to the fridge and back when I'm bored. I had to walk the dog for an hour last night to achieve it as I'd lain on the sofa all day watching the wedding. I'd love to get back to 78kg (12 stone ish) as that's where I was 10 years ago - and even then I thought I was fat Hmm

The Bloodsugar (low carbs/low sugar I think?) diet is quite positive as it does suggest that serious weight can be lost safely and for the long term in a very short period of time. Slightly dubious about this but I know that it worked for a friend.
I'm going to try and keep to it as much as I can.....I might have got it wrong but I think its the same bloke who is/was behind the 5:2 diet?
I also bought the Tom Kerridge book recently and liked the recipes and the portions were huge!!! So I might see if I can combine somehow....
Anyway - sitting here eating low fat yog with a banana and some dried apricots - but with some what is probably very sugary granola. I have to use it up though!
Ginnislife - I think that's where I go wrong - if the weight doesn't drop off straight away then I get disappointed and just stuff my face (if overeating was an Olympic sport......) so well done on keeping going! I too have a bit of sedentary job with some working at home (where I polish off the contents of the fridge) so keeping moving has to be in there as well...
Oh and I have a lovely mug of hot water and a slice of lemon...
I will treat myself to a coffee later...

Good morning all! So many of us now 😃 we can do this.
I was thinking we post our start weight and do a weekly weight up date - so every Sunday. We can post our daily menu if we want to and/ or use each other’s for inspiration.

Okay - so right now I’m 11 stone 9.
I would like to be 10 and a half max in 8 weeks.

Breakfast - hot water with lemon, black coffee, yoghurt and a cereal bar - this is a lot of sugar - what can I try instead?

I’m another one who gives up if I don’t see results and then eats everything. When I was younger I could lose half a stone in a week without trying - now I gain it that easily 😫

Fiveshelties - yes I also have one now - my husband has agreed to a maximum of three when we retire!

I’m excited to think I may actually fit in my summer clothes soon :)

Ginislife - that's great - 8000 steps makes a huge difference. I've been stuck around 5000 for a while - need to do more.
I was also doing yoga with adriene most days but that all slipped by the wayside. Starting again is the hard part but I am determined to lose this weight rather than losing a couple of pounds only to regain them plus more a few weeks later
