MyFitnessPal or slimming world

I’ve been finding slimming world a bit restrictive, for example - why can’t you have a brown bread sandwich if I’ve had oats for breakfast?
While Following the plan I also installed MyFitnessPal and it was warning me I wasn’t eating enough calories. (My goal being 1200 a day)
So then I followed myfitnesspal and lost more on that.
So now I’m wondering what other people prefer out of the two. What’s best? Or do many do both?

I love MFP, currently using it and having great success!

Although I get a bit obsessive with the amount of calories in things, which I know isn’t great but it’s hard not too when you’re religiously logging EVERYTHING you eat

Throw a curve ball in doing weight watchers. I always found slimming world very restrictive and it required so much cooking. It's difficult to make it work when out and about.

The weight watchers app is great. I can eat normal food as long as i make sensible choices and there are so many different foods on the app. You scan the packet and it tells you how many points stuff is.

It's really educated me in what is really bad for you and where it is easy to make good switches by comparing the points e.g. a can of coke is something like 8 points. Thats a massive chunk of my daily allowance. Coke zero is 0 points. Its a simple swap but without writing it down i wouldnt have done that as often before. You can link the app to your fitness tracker too to see how much excercise you are getting.

I love mfp grin I find I can track quite easily and it works for me plus I get good results with it.

I've never tried sw but my mum did and although an lost weight she also said it was restrictive and required a lot of cooking/ingredients which didn't fit in with her and my dad's lives easily.

If MFP is working for you plus the fact it’s free then it’s a bit of a no brainer really from my perspective- why would you go and pay each week at SW which is money that could go towards smaller clothes when you are more successful with MFP for free?!

I don’t think there’s a ‘best’, just what suits an individual the best. I have been to SW a number of times in the past (and WW) too. One day I suddenly realised that neither worked for me as I used to lose then put on so therefore they had failed as I hadn’t managed to maintain using either of them. This time have gone for something similar to MFP and am now over 100 pounds down plus as confident as I can be at this point I’ll be able to maintain as have practiced this along the way.

It’s what works for you, I lost 3 stone with MFP but then became complacent and put a stone back on.

I think joined slimming world and have now lost 7 stone in total, been a target member for 2 years and generally stay in target or get back to it easily. For me the support helps me keep focused

I think I’ll stick with MFP then.. but I still go to slimming world for the weigh ins and support!

As a pp has said - whatever works for you which seems to be mfp. Personally I lost 2 stone with Weightwatchers then have shed a further half a stone through logging food on Fitbit app (similar to mfp) as I’m eating more food like avocado, nuts and seeds which are high in points, plus am exercising loads.
