How do you get around this problem?

I'm trying to lose weight, I'm aiming for around 2st. I've been trying to get pregnant for a year, I've had tests and scans and been told anatomically everything's normal, and I will probably find losing weight will sort things out (only had one period in the whole time I've been off the pill)

Anyway, my question is this - what do you do when you're making progress with weight loss but there's always something to throw it off? This month there are 2 birthdays in my family, a big celebration meal with a community group I'm part of and my wedding anniversary. That's one thing a week this month for which I am expected to eat crap and drink alcohol. I've been doing really well recently, watching what I eat and doing cardio five times a week, but then I get derailed.

This is started to really get me down. If I can't lose the weight then I'm stuck in this rut of not being pregnant and feeling it's my fault (which it is) and with every passing month it hurts a bit more

Has anyone successfully navigated this to lose weight and keep it off? I would appreciate some advice as I am getting desperate

There are 21 meals in a week.

Eat healthily for the other meals.

Also have a plate of something before you go out celebrating so you aren’t ravenous.

No alcohol as you have taken medication for an ear infection or whatever.

Be strong and don’t do things you don’t want to do.

I'm not so sure that being OW stops people getting pregnant! If that was the case there'd be less babies about!

2st. isn't much, look at what you have everyday, do you OD on coffee and normal teas? If you do cut right down on them and have lots of water, green\mint or ginger teas. Also don't mix protein and carbs at the same meal. If you have migraines try cutting out chicken and avocados and or corn chips!

Oh and cut out fizzy rubbish drinks! I can vouch that the above will get you losing weight easily!! If not look at our Paul Mackenna thread, that works too!

Just don't over indulge. I eat what I want but just have a small portion. (And lost 50lbs this way) incidentally I got pregnant the month my weight tipped into the normal bmi after trying for 18months.

Also why do you need an excuse to not drink? Just don't drink. Or have a gin and diet tonic at 50cals.

Portion control, don't go crazy with your food choices and eat slightly less earlier on the day and the day after. And just don't drink more than one glass or all your good intentions will go out the window and you'll find yourself buying chips on the way home ...

You need to stop making excuses and get out of the mindset that you need to eat and drink to excess to celebrate. I was exactly the same thinking oh I better write off this week because it's so and so's birthday, easter, a bank holiday etc. There will always be something the trick is to learn to go to these events and not see it as a chance to over indulge. So go out to dinner but don't drink, choose either a starter or dessert but not both, avoid sauces and ask for things to be grilled rather than fried or roasted. Don't see the food as being the vital element of the event. It's very very hard but once you learn you can go anywhere and not fall off track.
