How do you give up this shit !

I am trying an 8 week challenge, to reduce body fat. I exercise 6 days a week (to high intensity) and now doing the diet to compliment this (to give me muscle definition) but I can't have carbs, dairy, sugar caffeine or booze. Have survived 2 days but going through 2 weeks of this phase seems impossible. I nearly fainted in the gym. Is it possible or have a bitten off more than I can chew ! Any advice or do I just need to dig in ?

It doesn't sound particularly healthy to me.

Why do something so restrictive?

That's sounds ridiculously hard! Just keep up with the exercise and cut out the junk and booze.

Is it Michael Moseley? If so, first week is hard then it’s very doable so persevere! There are some great BSD threads in weight loss chat.

So to be clear you’ve done this for two days?
Or have you been working out 6x a week.

Your post isn’t clear

I have been working out for 6 times a week for 6 months. So trying to strip any remaining fat away to see muscle. Ever heard the phrase abs are made in the kitchen and you can't out train a bad diet. But frankly it seems impossible! I have 3kg to loose ... no a lot, but enough to feel like a mountain!

Just to understand where you're at, are you currently 3kg over normal BMI or this 3kg within a normal BMI?

Reason I ask is that if you're already a healthy weight, you need to lose weight slowly to avoid losing muscle as well. The body doesnt really see the point of being very muscly , so if food is scarce, it dumps muscle. That why BBs bulk and cut in cycles. You cant build muscle in a calorie deficit and you can't preserve muscle in a major calorie deficit.

I've found, from trial and error, that to preserve muscle mass it's often better to go for really slow loss, like 0.5lbs per week and not drop carbs (eat high quality grains and pulses or starchy veg). Personally, I also find that dairy gives me good results in terms of gainz.

I guess what I'm saying is that this diet is possibly not designed for what you're trying to achieve if you've been actively targeting muscle growth through heavy reps.

I understand what you are trying to do. Is there are reason you want the muscle definition? Competition? if you are fainting you are eating too little. You need to make sure you are eating the correct amount of protein for your weight

I'm just doing it for the aesthetic, I work really hard and just want the results to really show. Thankfully day 4 has been much easier ! Getting through a weekend however might be a different challenge entirely!

What are you actually eating? Turkey breast, mince, oats and veg?

Report
TittyGolightly · 26/04/2018 13:24

oats

Oats are carbs.

Example of one of days
Eggs - smoked salmon b'fast
Celery and peanut butter (no salt sugar) snack
Tuna/prawn salad lunch
Protein shake snack
Turkey and green beans dinner
2-3 litre water
2/cups of green tea

Plus side - nearly down 1kg already (but assume that's all water)

I exercise six or seven days a week and I'm low carb, but couldn't be cutting out caffeine and dairy. That sounds like really hard work 😱

First few days of no carbs you feel like shit

Then suddenly a new lease of life and usually weight loss pretty quickly

Perservere

No carbs is fine if you’re not exercising. It suits people solely focussed on losing weight.

If you’re doing it for the aesthetic andyou want to look good, you need energy in order to do your weights.

So before your workout I’d incorporate some carbs and perhaps one cup of coffee.

Green tea has caffeine in it I thought?

I would add more fat to your diet at least

Carbs should be your main food group. Your body needs them

Genuine question
Where’s the carbs in her diet?

Report
RJnomore1 · 27/04/2018 07:12

That's the type of diet the boxers and competitive body builders I know use to strip for a fight or a competition.

Are you doing this for an event? Because as soon as you stop being so restrictive with food you will regain body fat percentage and if you're planning to keep up that level of training long term you will need carbs to run off.

*more carbs

Salad and green beans are complex carbs
