2 stone in 4 months

NC for this as it's quite outing.

I need help and lots of it!

So it's my sisters wedding in 4 months and I'm a bridesmaid. The dress she has bought for me doesn't fit, it's a size 16 and I'm an 18 at the minute having piled on the pounds whilst pregnant (gave birth in August) and just haven't stopped stuffing my face since then tbh. Now it took her ages to find the dresses in the first place, then she found these and they kept going out of stock online and then was thrilled when they all became available and rushed to order them. I tried mine on and it doesn't fit, but couldn't be swapped for a bigger size as they all were out of stock again. So stupidly I agreed I'd lose weight to fit in the drees. I didn't want to piss her off since it was hard to find them in the first place.

Now I'm in this horrible situation where I absolutely must lose enough weight to fit into this dress by August. Some would say the pressure is good motivation, but unfortunately my stupid brain doesn't work that way and I couldn't even lose weight for my own wedding so not sure how I'm going to manage to do it, but it must be done and I'm looking for any tips anyone can give me!

I have joined a gym, albeit finding it hard to go at the moment as I have a stinking cold but hopefully once that fucks off I'll be going regularly - how often to go and what exercise to do is another question.

I struggle with comfort/boredom eating since I'm at home all day with 8 month old twins - if anyone has any tips on how to overcome it I'd be very grateful.

The thing that works best for me is to not eat breakfast. If I wait til after 11, I seem to have more control over what I eat.

Don’t think about what you can’t eat, think of trying to include 5-6 portions of fruit and veg into your day and work around that. Hopefully, that will mean you don’t need to snack on the bad food. Or not too much if it anyway.

Go out. Put the dcs in the buggy and go for a long walk daily. Do you have baby groups you go to? There are twin groups in some areas.

Have the radio or an audiobook (free from the library on the overdrive app if you have library membership and pin) on in the background so you’re less bored during the day.

Thanks for your reply, I do enjoy going out for a walk with the boys especially now the weather is improving. I used to avoid breakfast when I was working, long before I was pregnant, and found this a useful way of controlling my calorie intake. I worry I've got too used to it now, but will try to eat later on in the morning instead.

I'm using Myfitnesspal, logging my food daily, planning my meals and using my Fitbit to motivate me into moving around a bit more. It worked for me before and I lost over five stones easily, but then found it all again when I stopped.

I totally understand how offputting it can be to lose weight because you have to, instead of doing it because you want to. I'm hiding at the back of so many group photos from events that I intended to lose weight for, but then I'm a lot bigger than you. I'm sure you can do it!

It is really hard when you aren't maybe in the mindset to lose weight. I agree with the poster above about my fitness pal. I've recently lost 3.5 stone in 6 months and dropped from an 18 to a 12 so you have definitely do it in that time frame! MFP really helps you balance your day I've found and monitor what you are really eating.

i find losing weight and sticking to it really difficult. I've recently lost a few stone on Slimming World quite easily though and surprised myself that I've not found it hard. I know it gets slated on here but it does work and is easy to stick to.

Wow avocado that's great.

I tried slimming World but kind of got stuck in a rut with it.

Those of you doing MFP, what are your calorie goals?

Slimming world. I have tried every diet going. But sw really worked for me. The idea that I can still have chocolate and crisps and bread was the winner for me. I lost a stone in 6weeks.

I've also just lost 2 stone in about 12 weeks. I used MFP which I've tried before and not had any success but this time felt very motivated to do it (had my third child last April and wanted my body back!).

I find it difficult to limit calories all the time (as I like food and wine) so flirted with 5:2 and ended up using MFP but having a weekly target. So being super good Monday to Thursday (

I wanted to lose 1.5lb a week which at my starting weight gave me around 1600 a day, but I aimed for 1400. This has reduced as my weight has so now I only aim for 1lb a week. I logged all exercise but I don't do loads, and aimed to not eat the extra calories earned! I also gave myself a bit extra at weekends, but tried to stay in the 'not gaining weight' range, so around 2000.

I find that prepping food in advance really increases my chance of not snacking or getting really hungry and then eating too much or making bad choices. I have Tupperware containers full of shredded red cabbage and grated carrot in the fridge and add handfuls of the cabbage to meals to bulk things out.

I also do as the posters above said and try to avoid breakfast. I swear by Options hot chocoate for desert or if I want to snack during the day. The sweetness curbs my sweet cravings and the water in it fills me up a bit.

Good luck. You can definitely do it!!!

Good luck with it all, but take the dress to a tailor and find out what can be done to give yourself some leeway.
