I normally find it really difficult to stay on track but all that has to stop. Waiting for Dh to finish his 20min poo so I can weigh myself and draw a line against all my chocolate gobbling.

Anyone else fancy a fresh start?

I was just about to start a thread saying the same!

I'm getting married near Christmas and need to lose weight asap for wedding dress shopping, add in health problems that limit what/how much exercise I can do, very limited time and lack of self-control and some serious binging means I've been putting on weight since before Christmas rather than losing it.

Yeah, I'm 15st. I know there are some issues with BMI but I'm using the top end of that to aim for. I need to lose about 3st.

I'm looking for some healthy meal ideas, but I'm a bit fussy at times and just crave junk food so need some support to get me through that.
Which bit do you struggle with OP?

I am a bridesmaid in 12 weeks. I currently need to lose an inch of back fat and some of my jiggly belly so my dress fits nicely. I currently weigh 13st 4 and want to lose 24 pounds before the wedding. I did a healthy food shop today and I am trying to eat as clean as possible. I have got into really bad habits and feel sluggish so Im hoping at least initially I see some quick results.

Well day one is done and I beat my 10k step goal. I ate crap but skipped dinner so technically I was under calories for the day...though that's obviously not clever so will work on that tomorrow..

Glad I'm not on my own here how has today been for everyone?

I still don't know how best to go for this, low cal, no carb, 5:2, etc there's so many it's a minefield Confused

I have such a sweet tooth I find I'd rather not have any than a little bit.. though that backfires too as then I binge instead.

I'm thinking of 5:2 and calorie counting on the 5 days. With 10k steps a day. My problem is binge eating, takeaways and portion control- I think I can match dh (I can but that's the problem) Dh isn't very supportive either so that's why I've turned to MN.

It's got to be done though, my self esteem is rock bottom so there is no rude stuff with dh. I hate photos of myself so I have no family photos or pics with my dc. I don't like to make an effort as I feel gross anyway so what's the point. I want to have nice clothes but what looks nice on a slim person is not the same as a larger lady. I don't want to meet new people, I've just had enough.

Sorry I'm ranting now but you get the picture. I need to stay on track...

I've heard of 5:2 but not quite sure what it means, Google is suggesting slightly different things. I was planning on just using my fitness pal to track calories. It helped before for a while (I was 16st and got down to 14 1/2) but every 1/2st or so I seem to plateau, maybe the 5:2 would help with those phases?

Sounds like we have some common ground here, sweet tooth, takeaways, binging, portion size (skinny DP and I fall into matching his meals) and no rl encouragement to eat better. Similar with self-esteem too. Hate people taking my photo and uploading onto facebook etc where the world can see how fat I've got. I want to be able to look at my wedding photos.

I think step one for motivation will be to find a photo of when I was slim and one from a recent night out and put them in the kitchen so I have a constant reminder of what I'm aiming for.

Is Rafiki from the lion king or somewhere else? (Completely irrelevant I'm just nosy!)

Dh is skinnyish but pigs out constantly and only needs to think of the word diet and loses a lb. it drives me bonkers coz he totally doesn't get how bloody hard it is for others.

We do sound very similar and I'm stealing the find an old photo thing. though I'm drunk in most and not appropriate for kitchen cupboards

I had another bad food day, but again good on the steps. I think it would help if I actually picked something to stick to. The 5:2 is generally eat normal (though not piggy) for 5 days and for 2 non consecutive days eat 500cals. That can either be one meal or throughout the day. If u do some reading it can get confusing as there are tons of versions.

What's everyone eaten today?

I was busy yesterday so didn't eat anything until nearly 4pm, then I spent all evening binging. I tried sticking with fruit but ended up eating tea (which wasn't the healthiest), then 2 bowls of cereal, fruit and some chocolate.

So today I've had breakfast already and hoping to pick at healthier snacks, rather than waiting until I feel half starved and binging. Maybe 5:2 isn't a method I could stick to! haha Does it have to be 2 days back to back? Doesn't it give you hunger headaches?

Can I join? I'm starting today. I'm getting weighed later so will let you know. For breakfast I had poached egg on a bed on spinach, grilled flat mushroom, beans and a slice of seeded bread with a cup of green tea.

Just to put it in perspective last night for tea I had a giant bar of milky bar, haribo, feta cheese pasta salad, a slice of pizza. I'm a sugar addict and I love take aways so this is a big challenge for me.

Can I join too please? Had my dad by csection on 19th Feb and have been guzzling sweet stuff by the trough load since I got pregnant. Plucked up the courage to weigh myself this morning and I’m bang on 13 stone, which is the most I’ve ever weighed. Want to lose 3.5/4 stone. I’ve downloaded MyFitnessPal now and it’s given me calories per day of 1200. I’m a sugar addict as well unfortunately and also prone to binging. Five nights, that breakfast sounds delicious!

Ok so 1 shake down and feeling like it's doable. Fitbit is on charge though so not counting steps which is annoying!

How are you feeling today five?

Today I've had scrambled egg and mushrooms. I got given a healthy eating guide yesterday and what counts as a portion size. I also got given a guide how to read and decode food labels. For example I had a snack a Jack rice cracker thinking it was ok at 64 kcal but actually it's Amber (fat) Amber (saturates) red (sugar) green (salt) so actually not that good! It's the evening and sugar cravings I'm worried about. Lunch next not sure what might get a salad from Tesco?

I got the guides from my local weight loss group. The food labour decoder is by british heart foundation. I just did a quick Google and found that easily I think u can download or order one. The other guide is the food wheel guide and on the back of says what it's a portion. E.g it says for carbs that 1 slice of medium wholemeal bread is a portion, 8 oven chips (70g), 2 tablespoons of boiled rice etc and to eat 6 portions a day. I quite suprised by having to eat 6!

How’s everyone doing today? I’m doing ok so far. Down 4 lbs, but I have s lot to lose. I actually forgot to eat dinner yesterday. A friend called and by the time she left it was too late to eat and a had 101 other things to do. That should have been over half my calories for the day so feeling hungry now but don’t want to blow today with a binge of sugar and carbs.
Boam, how’re you finding the shakes? I lost weight on shakes a few years ago and actually found them quite effective.
