What to eat when craving salty snacks?

I can't stop eating salty snacks and it's ruining all healthy eating efforts.

I'm happy swapping sweet things like chocolate and biscuits to fruit/yoghurt (not the same, obviously but does the job), but replacing things like crisps, crackers half a cheese sandwich before bed I am finding harder. All I can think of is carrot sticks and I'll soon get bored if I don't vary a bit.

Any ideas? Please?

Individual cheese portions like babybels,
Marmite on celery
Peanut butter on celery
Tbsp of salted peanuts
Rice cakes - with toppings peanut butter, cottage cheese, marmite
Stock cube broth
Boiled egg
small amount of plain or just salted popcorn
beef jerky

Pickled things are good! Especially gherkins because you get that crunch. Those thin seaweed sheets can also be good. If I'm really stuck I'll have a mug of bouillon or a spoonful of marmite on its own blush

I have a salad. Iceberg lettuce, cucumber, mayo and added salt. Tastes yum and feels like you're eating a lot.

Peanut butter is too moreish for me. Celery with cottage cheese and salt sprinkled is quite nice. And I quite like those sea salt granules. Very salty! Also half a tomato with salt sprinkled. Not sure if all this salt is healthy though.

You can get some dried corn from the likes of Holland and Barrett and make your own salty popcorn. Bit of oil and salt in large pan with the lid on. smile

Sounds a bit wanky but kale crisps are quite good. Get rid of the thick stems, couple of squirts of spray oil and sprinkle of salt and put them in a hot oven for about six mins. The trick is catching them before they scorch. They’re nice and crunchy and salty. I’m doing WW and chickpeas are 0 points - roasting them in the oven for 20 mins makes them a bit chewy/crunchy. Nice with some cayenne pepper. I need to watch the salt though 😊

Seaweed crisps - 22 cals a pot, very salty and savoury.
Salty, homemade popcorn? You can heat it until it pops in a pan with no fat, so it's just corn and salt. I do it for DC all the time.

Amazing ideas - thank you!

I'd kind of forgotten that celery was a thing...! Hard boiled eggs, rice cakes, bovril, pop corn and kale crisps sound very appealing!

Babybel light, pumpkin seeds (not low fat but pretty good for you). You can do carrot sticks or cucumber and dip in a mix of low fat philadelphia with a teaspoon of pesto. That's yummy.

Hard boiled quail eggs with celery salt.
Cubes of Edam with a sprinkle of celery salt.

Olives? You can get anchovy-stuffed olives in little tins that are very salty and lovely for munching of an evening

Definitely not breadsticks, though; I'd never be able to stop grin
