How is Lent going

topcat2014 · 17/02/2018 08:31

I have given up:
Chocolate
Crisps
Cake
Biscuits
Sweets

for Lent (not religious, but seemed a good excuse).

I had to do them all, otherwise I would just double up on the one I have not given up :)

Bloody hell it is hard - like breaking an addiction..

My office runs on doughnuts or celebrations, and I am munching on carrots -arggg

Not too well so far. I only gave up mayonnaise (I eat ridiculous amounts usually) but I cracked yesterday and had some on my sandwich. Then again tonight I had some with dinner.
I have no willpower.

That's a lot to give up all at once topcat!

I have given up using the lift at work (I work on 7th floor). I nearly killed off a colleague by making him walk up with me after a meeting on Friday. I'm off work until 28th now so it should be fairly easy for a bit Grin

@beela - the thing is, I know I would compensate with the others, and more so, if I didn't do them all.

Quite surprised to have made it to Sunday already. Bought choc bars for the others yesterday and managed to resist getting one for myself.

Normal meals are whatever they are - be that sausages, chips, whatever - it is just the mindless and constant grazing.

My work colleague is doing it too - so we help each other.

Mind you, other 'friends' in the office brought slices of cake to my desk like drug pushers! These people are all over 40, rather than about 12, but you wouldn't know it.

I have given up most of those too.... I decided not to give up chocolate (which I only eat occasionally and could go without quite easily) so that I have something in a PMT-related emergency!!
I am also cutting back on alcohol (I have 2 events during lent that wouldn't be as much fun without any booze) - but generally no drinking at home/during the week.
My work colleagues are giving up bringing in all the usual sharing goodies to work so I don't have that temptation.
So far it's going ok.....
