Opinions on meal replacement options please?

hi there

considering doing a quick burst of shakes / meal replacement to overcome my inflated appetite

i know they're not ideal / not good for you, and i'm actually ok at eating healthy but post-baby i've managed to overeat so much i'm really struggling to reduce the amount i eat, so i'm failing to get my weight back under control

could anyone please give me any recommendations or watch-outs for the various options out there?

i've had one recommendation for exante so far.

Celebrity Slim is doing wonders for me I'm in to my second week I'm only replacing one meal though and having two really healthy meals a day with either very low or no carb most days I highly recommend.

looking to lose 1 + 1/2 stone so not a great deal to lose trying to exercise every day so that's helping too it's sometimes not so easy to fit in with dcs and work.

Huel would be the healthiest option as it gives you everything you need. Though it’s not actually low calorie in the ways others are so you need to factor that in.

I've just bought the Protein World Slender Plan but I'm starting on Monday when I get back from holiday so can't comment yet.

Have a look at the ingredients.

I found Slimfast and some whey protein shakes had so much sugar in them I was starving hungry five minutes after eating them.

Could you make your own shakes instead, so you know what they contain?

Most meal replacements, especially celebrity slim and slimfast are at least 50% sugar and a terrible way to replace nutrition. You're better off spending a bit more and trying something wholefood like Purition, or Protein Works meal replacement extreme that are both low in sugar, and high in protein. The PW ones are lovely, I've got the chocolate silk and strawberries. I have one made with half almond milk, half water and it keeps me going for at least 4/5 hours.

I can recommend Cambridge Weight Plan. I lost 5 stone and I'd tried every other diet on the planet. I'm a consultant now too. Each product contains one third of your daily recommended intake of vitamins and minerals. There are several steps so your Consultant will advise which plan suits your lifestyle :)

I have previously done Cambridge but it's a expensive compared to diet now which I have also done and am starting tomorrow to get another stone off. I prefer the products so much more than Cambridge they use to make me boak sometimes especially the soups.

You arent breastfeeding are you?

RIGHT! I've ordered Purition. 5 bags. Calculating that will last me approx 4 weeks, maybe more.

I have been using purition for over a year now. I like the strawberry and chocolate flavour. I have them because they fill me up for at least 5-6 hours. My weight has crept up again.....but have just been greedy/time of year etc. Thinking of having breakfast and lunch shake and healthy tea, couple of fruit or egg snacks. Oh I use almond milk also.

I just now have it for my breakfast as really enjoy it and fills me up. Kept weight off but the snacking in the evening over winter had put some back on 😳 I did find my stomach ached a bit at first as I think it swells a bit to fill you up. After a week or so I didn't notice anything

Dont have shakes or any replacements they can be dangerous they are expensive and they don't taste great
Also you will end up breaking your diet as you will get cravings
Also if you do loose weight with them you will put it back on after
I am happy to give you a diet plan and if you follow it you will loose weight for sure
Please tell me what type of foods you enjoy I can create receipes based on these
You will not feel like you are on a diet Cake

Just to be clear- Cambridge is not dangerous. Just to stress that point. It has been going for nearly 35 years and is nutritionally balanced. Going through their steps helps with maintenance. You obviously need to make lifestyle changes afterwards, as you would with any diet.
You also get one to one support from a trained consultant, Your medical conditions/medications are taken into account too so your safety and health is paramount.
Each to their own and everyone is free to make their own choice. But I felt I should clarify that.

My approach is weight loss with eating foods you want with a calorie based and excerice diet

You'd be better off low carbing - it doesn't suit me, for various reasons, but if you want to keep your food intake down, you're best off cutting out the spuds, bread, pasta and rice. Then if you add more veg and protein (and don't cut fat, so you're satiated) you're les likely to want to eat to excess.
