I HOPE THERE ARE AFEW MORE OF YOU OUT THERE.

I STARTED THE LIGHTER LIFE PROGRAMME 4 DAYS AGO AND HAD MY FIRST DRP IN WEIGH A KEOTONE TEST THIS MORNING.

9LB'S....

I WAS GOB SMACKD.......

WHAT A RESULT AND BELEIVE IT OR NOT IT WAS EASY. NO HUNGER OR CRAVINGS. APPARENTLY FIRST FOUR DAYS ARE THE WORST THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE A MID WEEK DROP IN.

I AM CHUFFED TO BITS...

IS ANYONE ELSE DOING IT?????

my sister lost about 5 stone doing this. The bulk of the fee is for hte counselling. I guess if its done correctly thenm you should expel those demons that caused the weight gain in teh first place. My sister now scoffs on boxes of Mr Kipling Apple Pies - yes boxes! and milk shakes. She has apparently but about 1 stone back on so far

I personally would opt for the cheaper slim fast myself if you really want to be dictated to.

That said there are several MNers who have done well on this scheme - including YG who is in the throes of it at the moment

OMG............

FEEL REALLY OPTIMISTIC NOW..........

ACTUALLY I NO DOUBT WILL PUT ON SOME OF THE WEIGHT AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE AS THE PLAN IS TO TRY AND GET PREGNANT SOONAfter the weight loss.

THE DO OFFER A MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME WHICH PERHAPS SOME OF THE PEOPLE MENTIONED SHOULD HAVE CONSIDERED. I PLAN TO GO TO EITHER WW OR SLIMMING WORLD ONCE THROUGH WITH LIGHTER LIFE.

I KNOW OF TWO PEOPLE THAT DID THE PROGRAMME OVER TWO YEARS AGO AND ARE MAINTAINING THEIR WEIGHT.

I SUPPOSE IT'S UP TO THE INDIVDUAL.

MIND YOU I ALSO KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE WW AND SLIMMING WORLD AND PUT IT ON AS SOON AS THEY STOP.

I DID CAMBRIDGE DIET OVER 16 YEARS AGO AND IT TOOK ME NEARLY 8 YEARS TO PUT IT ALL BACK ON.

ENOUGH NEGATIVITY LADIES....

LETS TRY AND SUPPORT THE FATTIES LIKE ME...

I have been feeling a bit guilty this afternnon as I can remember someone posting something similar on here when I started lighterlife and it really got me down.

I woudl use it again if I needed to loose a lot of weight for an occasion for example my wedding but knew that it would probably go back on and that I would need to take longer to achieve peranent weight loss.

I did do maintenance, I put the weight on after.

oinker Well done to you for starting this diet and doing so well in the first few days.

I'm doing cambridge diet which is the same as lighter life but costs around half the price!!!

I started in january and have lost 3 stone so far, which i'm really pleased with.

You should log onto the cambridge diet thread 4 and you'll get loads of support from all of us that have lost weight, and we support each other through the tough times that we have now and again!!!

Hi Oinker - I have been doing LL for about 9 weeks now and have lost 2 stone - I really feel for the people who have lost and put back (having been a fatty in a family of skinnies most of my life I know what I'm talking about) on but as somebody else has said unless you change your habits you are going to put the weight back on whether you lose a Lb a week or lots very quickly. Personally for me losing 1/2 to 2lbs a week on WW would so demotivate but each to their own.
I am already thinking about how I am going to manage my eating after LL and am weighing up various options in my mind.

Also - it's so lovely when people notice that you've lost weight that it's a great motivator. I know two people who've lost and are maintaining.

Don't be put off Oinker - you're a grown up and you seem to be taking responsibility for yourself. It's not a magic solution but it helps you get where you to be quickly and then you can make your adult decisions about how you want to live the rest of your life.

Oh and Oinker if you do want to chat I usually check in once or twice a day and would be happy to chat. Well done on your loss so far and all the best.

Sermon over -off to do my ironing now.

Mummycan....

Thank you. I could hug you for that.

I was never put off just a bit peed off that I got loads of negative responses. Isort of expected it.

I will probably do a couple of maintenance weeks and then go on to WW or slimming world. It will be a long term thing for me.

i was totally shocked at the weight loss at my first dro in on day 4.

Is that normal....What should I expect to loose per week? I really do hope I will do 3 or 4 stone in the 100 days. I have a holiday booked on 14th August and fortunatley will be able to do my own cooking etc so I should be fine.

Hopefully we will be tryingto conceive too............

Thanks again....

Oh,nearly forgot................

GOOD LUCK AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK...

My MIL is onto the maintenance part now.
She started in October and so far has lost 4 stone.

Now on the maintenence she is still losing 1-2lb a week.

Good luck with it.

No problem Oinker.

See how you feel but I would do maintenance for as long as you can - but I completely understand that you want to start getting on with the rest of your life. I too am thinking slimming world principles after LL - not sure if I will go to a class though.

I must admit my weight loss has slowed down this last week but period is due and I haven't drunk all the water.

One tip that Yorkiegirl gave me was try and drink six litres of water a day - I know that's a lot and I've only ever managed to do that one week but when I did I had a 5 lb weight loss - others in my group have had beteween 7 and 11 lb losses when they up the water.

Good luck

x

Just to let you know that I'm about a week ahead of you Oinker, I lost 8 pounds the first week. Today I tried on a pair of jeans I bought at Easter that I couldn't fasten and dd has just told me that they look baggy! In less than 2 weeks!!

I have managed to keep it up in front of a number of people without letting on- yeaterday I had a bunch of kids at a chess tournament and they never even noticed. One of the kids had brought me a piece of caramel shortcake(bless) and I managed to pass on it.

Anyway keep it up and I'll be here too.

I'm desperate to do something about my weight. Have done LL and lost 3 stone, maintained for 10 months then it started to go on + more than 1 stone {shock}. It's all to do with the glycogen ..... (ignore the glycogen hype LL tell you and google it)

Stupidly I'd do it again for the quick fix, but know deep down that LL only works if you have iron self control.

9 in my group. All have put back on more than 3/4 of their weight in two years

mummycan · 30/04/2007 11:08

Misrible - would you say you have gone back to your old eating habits or have you regained weight from just eating sensibly?

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade either but my LL/Cambridge saga probably beats anyone.

Feb 2006 - weighed 18.3 stone - joined LL May 2006 - weighed 13.5 stone (lost alomost 5 stone in 3.5 months)

Left LL - didn't really do maintenance and went back to my uaually addicted relationship with food

Jan 2007 - weighed 14.3 stone (despite trying Weight Watchers and Paul Mckenna to stem the weight gain) - joined LL again for a month

Feb 2007 - weighed 12stone 8lbs (yes I lost almost 20lbs in a month)

May 2007 (only 3 months later) - weigh 14 stone

I have just (3 days ago) started the Cambridge diet (cheaper than LL) and now weigh 13stone 7lbs.

On the plus side - in Jan 20076 I weighed 18.3 stone. Today (May 2007) I weigh 13.5 stone so on the face of it I have maintained my weight for 18 months (not without a great deal of yo yoing though)

Report
Lazycow · 30/04/2007 11:23

Sorry have maintained my weight (of 13stone 5lbs) for 1 year (not 18 months) - May 2006 -May 2007

but I have done LL twice and am now on CD again - all in the space of 16 months.

mummycan · 30/04/2007 11:58

LC - don't want to sound stupid but you seem to be saying LL not a good idea so why are you going back?
