Slow, steady and PERMANENT weightloss- anyone want to keep me company?

Okay- here is my thinking.....I need to lose about 2 and a half stone- I'm currently 12 and a half stone. BUT, I have binge eating disorder, and whenever I go on 'diets' it triggers this. I have lost all sense of what is a normal portion, what eating normally is etc.

So, I want to go right back to basics. If I put in too many aims at once it all falls apart. So, I want to just make small, incremental changes to my life which hopefully add to bug changes on the scales.

So today is day 1 of week 1 and the little changes I want to make for this week are;

  1. Drink aim- just water, herbal teas etc.

(I have been doing Dry Jan and it has made a difference to overall bloatedness, but I have been having sugary drinks and cordials etc.)

  1. Exercise aim- 15 minutes of vigorous walking daily.

  1. Food aim- three meals with lots of veg/ fruit in each meal.

I KNOW these are modest aims- but it is all I can cope with for now.

For breakfast I plan to have an omelette and some fruit.

I've made a great and really positive start.

I had an omelette for breakfast with rattatouille on the side then lunch at a greek restaurant- grilled lamb with lentils and greek salad.

Walked to the restaurant and back (usually a bus/taxi job).

Very full and so am planning just some veg soup for dinner.Currently sipping on fizzy water and lemon.

I figure even if I 'only'lose half a pound a week that's quite okay.:)

@JBP

Half a pound a week is fab. I lost six stones (14st 12lbs to 8st 12lbs). It took me seven years from start to finish Shock. I'd drop a dress size, maintain for a while and then push on and do another.

The downside: yeah, it took a while. The massive upside: I haven't been left with loose skin anywhere and I put that down to not taking the weight off too quickly Smile

Good luck. I'll follow your progress on here.

sounds very sensible op. Maybe look for the no s threat in weightloss. It is a sensible slow process: no snacks, seconds or sugar except on days beginning with s.

Good luck!

Oooh good to know about the S thread Best thank you!

7 stones is epic stevie. I feel very encouraged by your experience. I am a yo yo dieter (with frequent forays into bulimia) so this is like totally re-setting my whole relationship with food hopefully.

I'm also increasingly aware of restricting and binge cycles in my eating coming from dieting

Hello op ,I'm doing the same as you ..for the exact same reasons😋I started on 1 Jan ...it's hard and I've had a couple of days where I've ate to much..but I've just carried on as normal the next day...I'm trying to go to the gym....I've a lot more weight to loose than you..but I'm only aiming for a size 18 ..I'm a 22 now...see how I feel at an 18 if I feel like loosing more...

With my chaotic binge style eating I went first for 3 meals 2 snacks with times for each blocked off. If I go just for 3 meals I gorge esp at dinner because I'm scared of getting hungry. I guess depends a bit at how soon restriction (or thought of restricting) triggers excessive eating. So if you can't manage 3 meals try my way. I am hoping to get to 3 meals a day but over a really long time
