Four stone down in 2018

After two children and with mid 40s approaching I really need to sort my weight out. I'm on a 4 stone mission for 2018- this time next year I want to be 4 stone lighter. Anyone want to join me on this mission? You're support would be great and we can share our sorrow at the lack of chocolatey goods together

Snap - I need to lose 4st to get to 25bmi, which I'm doing through a VLCD as that's the only thing that's worked for me in the past - sadly I have yet to find the solution to maintaining a healthy weight, as it all went back on over 2 years!

Plan to get there before I'm 42 at end of May. I'm down to only a few things in my wardrobe that fit, but I refuse to buy anything to tide me over or anything big again hence the VCLD to shift it faSt and keep me motivated!

I need to lose about that too. I have spent my entire life since age 12 on diets, I just don't know what to do. My only plan is to keep going with the little bit of running I've been doing.

What's your plan?

I'm 31 but have 4 stone to lose also having put over 4 stone on in only 2 and a half years.

I really need to change my attitude to food as I am constantly yo-yoing so instead of focusing on my diet too much I have given myself a fitness-related goal that I need to achieve by summer which is going to require training for. I will need to eat well for this as well so diet will matter but it won't be my sole focus as when I do that I tend to restrict calories too much and end up losing a lot quickly which I then put back on as I have a tendency to binge/overeat when I fall off the wagon. I'm hoping this will help make it more of a life change that I can maintain rather than just a short term diet but would be good to speak to others on here for support to stay on track, particularly at the beginning.

Yes me. I feel awful. Unhealthy and unattractive plus my clothes don’t fit.

I’m in! I want to lose just over 3 stones. I lost 3 stones a few years ago, gained a stone back and then lost it again last Autumn. So 3 stones compared to 6 stones doesn’t fill me with as much dread!

I’m going to be doing the same as I did before- logging with my fitness pal, I don’t eat carbs at tea time (cuts lots of calories so I can eat more nice things 😉😂) and working out. I tend to do aqua aerobics mostly and the odd gym session.

I had an ok day today but did decide to finish the bar of galaxy.. at least it’s out or the way now..

I’m in - mid 50s and 3 stone to lose. I’m going to try the 5:2 with tomorrow as my first fast day 😩

I'm in. Not sure how I'm going to do it yet though. Toying with SW but hate the meetings. Or a vlcd for a boost to start with, but the one I tried last year tasted so vile that I lasted a week before I gave up.

I need to lose 4 stone as I'm currently fat and frumpy!

Im in! 44 this year, id need to lose 5 stone to get a BMI of 25 but not sure its achievable for me. I don’t want to set myself up to fail. Really I would like to be a size 12 so the weight is secondary. I plan to go back to weightwatchers for the discipline but the biggest thing is getting active and eating more food cooked from scratch. Have got in to some really bad habits. I have an active job where I’m on my feet for 75% of the time so that helps

I only need to lose 2 stone, but am going to start as soon as the children are back at school.

My plan is calorie counting, with 12,000 steps per day (have a Fitbit) and 20 mins of exercise 3 times a week. I think that's achievable for me, and should result in 1 - 1.5 lbs per week loss. So I need to continue that for about 6 months. I've been trying to do this for the past 15 years, and this year I am absolutely determined to do it.

Onward and downward everyone!

Can I join in too? Hit 40 last year, and I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I want to lose 3 stone and get back to a comfortable size 12 rather than a slightly too tight 16. Ideally by the summer. I'm cutting out snacks, cutting down on carbs and will start running again tomorrow morning, aiming for minimum two runs per week.

I'm so fat. I don't know how I will do it but I don't want to be like this anymore. 3 stone min to lose.

I want to lose 3-4 stone too. Ideally 4, at least 3. I'm so disappointed with myself as I've done it before, twice, but I just can't keep it off. I want this to be the year I lose it and keep it off!

Yes I'm in, turned 40 last year and the fattest I've ever been, I've 2 kids under 5 and totally fed up of feeling exhausted. I've around 3-4 stone to lose!
Currently 13.8 Shock I was only 12.4 when I was 9 months pregnant.

I'm going to use my fitness pal, it's a bit of a faff to get into but I know counting calories works for me.

Just finished watching a diet programme on channel 5. DH started looking up ketogenic diets till it turned out the big brother girl that did it hardly lost anything and made herself unhealthier afterwards!

Whatever "diet" you follow there never seems to be an answer to keeping 100% willpower in order to keep off the lbs you’ve lost - whoever finds the answer to that would be an instant billionaire! Think the answer might be 5:2 for me as I did it for a month last year, didn’t lose any but stayed the same and that was with a few takeaways.

Going to start 30 day shred again tomorrow night to tone up whilst losing. Must also find an exercise class that I enjoy.

I'd like to join in too. At least 4 stone to lose. I did it before in 2016-17 but then stupidly put nearly 3 stone back on. Feeling like an idiot and need to get back on it!

Thanks for the response. My plan, such as there is one is:

  1. Ditch the fizzy drinks. I drink way too much of them.
  2. Try to generally reduce sugar
  3. Not buy things like crisps and snacky stuff
  4. Get out walking with the family every weekend
  5. Take up Clubbercise so I can exercise in the dark to avoid the embarrassment!

I reckon a steady weight loss each week with a view to achieving it in 12 months.

I'm in too! I've got 4 stone to lose and I know the benefits I will feel when I do.... I just don't know how other than determination. I've lost 3 stone before but put it all back on and then some!

Lots of good ideas! I've set my stone losses termly 😂 A stone by Feb, another by may, another by end August and last one by xmas....

I will only drink water or tea, no crappy foods, healthy filling dinners, weight watchers soups etc this usually works for me but when I get to the summer holidays I am off for 6 weeks and I find it tricky to stay focussed!

Can I join in too? I have at least 4 stone to lose, preferably before my 30th birthday in October!
I lost 3.5 stone a few years ago before I got married, I have since had 2 kids and gained it all back (and more)!
I joined weight watchers a couple of weeks before Christmas and lost 6.5lb, I suspect that's all gone back on again now though. First post Christmas weigh in is on Thursday!

yep, I need to lose three stones easily. Going to try and avoid snacking, booze, sugar and too much fatty stuff. Have ordered a shed load of low cal cup a soups :)

Can I join? I have between 4 and 5 stones to lose. I'll be staring on the 5:2 diet when the DCs are back in school. I'm also going to do more walking and join a gym.
I turned 50 last year, if I don't lose it now, I'm looking forward to an unhealthy middle / old age.
I've been losing and gaining the same 10lbs for the last couple of years. I need to keep going this time.
