I just weighed myself and I'm devastated.

I'm 5'5 and have always hovered around the 13st Mark
Never been happy there. Feel best around 12st.

I lost a lot of weight after my partner left me 13 months ago and was about 11 stone.

I met my girlfriend in March and we both love food. Junk food and chocolate.

Because I've been happy I've eaten myself to death.

I weigh 16 stone :(

I'm so embarrassed and feel awful.

What's the best way to shift this quickly and effectively?

Sad

Low carb boot camp starting soon if you want something to spur you in - do a search for the board on here!

I'm sure you know really that there isn't a quick and safe way to lose a lot of weight quickly... don't beat yourself up though. As you said, it's because you're happy you've been overindulging.

Does your partner want to lose weight / eat more healthily too. Easier to make changes with support. I've put on a stone and a half since going back to a sedentary job with a biscuit tin... it's taken several months to gain it, will take the same to change your lifestyle and lose it!

Exercise, eat plenty of veg and lean meat, cut down on bread & pasta, ditch the cakes & chocolate. Eat sweet things occasionally if you feel you can stick to only occasionally.

The eight week blood sugar diet, or 5:2, see another thread here. Sorry to break this to you, but your junk food days are over... Xmas Wink

Old advice. Eat less and move more. Calorie deficit. It’s the only way really. I need to lose 2 stone minimum so I feel your pain.

It happened to me, crept up over a few years really, I tried and failed with every diet.
In the end I did slim fast and that worked for me but only because I saw in black and white the calories I needed to aim for each day. I also walked a lot. I lost 3 stone in about 6 months which was quite dramatic but I kept it off by just being scared of ever getting back like I was.
Simply, just cut out as much crap as you can to start, eat normal meals and exercise more (a 20 min fast walk twice a day is perfect) you might find that's all you need to do if you stick to it.

The kicker is that I walk everywhere. I don't drive so I spend at least and hour and half walking everyday.

I just gain so easily.

You don't 'gain so easily', you've lost sight of a normal daily calorie intake.

Do you keep a food diary? It might be useful.

You can outrun a fork. Diet is a bigger part of it than exercise.

It's hard to lose weight as we need good so can't cut it out completely. Also it tastes good.

I've been on a diet of high protein, medium dat, low carbs. Very rigid choices of food. Have to eat at prescribed times of day too which is tricky. However I have changed shape quite noticeably.

First thing to do is get your head around your goals. Then go from there.

Good luck OP. You can do it.

Slimming world is my saviour. I 'gain easily' i.e. if I'm not on a diet plan like sw I don't eat a normal daily intake of calories and essentially binge on loads of great food!
