Weight loss and corresponding inch loss?

Steala · 26/10/2017 09:58

I've put on a lot of weight this year and I don't know how much because I didn't weigh myself when I was slummer. What I do know is that jeans that fit about 18 months ago don't go up over my hips. I think I need to lose 4 inches.

For anyone who has lost weight and kept measurements, how do inches and pounds correspond? Maybe we are all so different it doesn't work like that but still interesting.

I want to know because if I know I can lose 1.5lb a week, I want to know how long it will be before I fit in my lovely jeans.

FWIW, I am a regular exerciser so it's definitely fat I need to lose, rather than toning up.

Thanks!!

I’ve lost 3 stone and that equates to 6/7 inches off my middle, roughly.

20lb took 3” off my (huge) hips

I only know my waist measurements. It took me 5 months to lose 2 stones and 5” off my waist.

Thank you all for replying and congratulations on your impressive losses. It looks as though I need to lose just under 2 stone. Sigh. So easy to put on; so hard to lose.

Noofly good result, what diet did you follow, trying to loose the last 2 pounds since August. Gym 3 times a week, no breakfast, light lunch, 250 calories, healthy dinner and two glasses of 5 times a week is not working.

Wine is my treat for skipping breakfast and being good at the gym.surely some treats are allowed.

FlourishingMrs I didn’t follow a specific diet as such. I had an emergency gall bladder removal last Christmas (got home Christmas Eve!) and that gave me a bit of a scare. I decided to take advantage of the recovery period to cut out all “junk”sugar and caffeine which for me meant no more big cups of coffee several times a day with 4 (yes, you read that right!) teaspoons of sugar in each one plus 3-4 of those big supermarket cookies that you can get.

I switched to porridge with blueberries for breakfast and salad with prawns or chicken for lunch.

I did that for 6 weeks then added the odd cookie plus dessert on a Saturday back in.

I also started cycling several times a week at the end of January and joined a gym where I do weights twice a week.

All in all since I started I’ve lost 3 stones. I have half a pound to lose before I get as many jam doughnuts as I like and have been stuck for the last three weeks with this stupid half pound!!! I’d then like to lose another half stone but now that I’m in a healthy weight I’m finding the
plateaus last for ages!

I've lost 1st 9 lb this year and lost over 6 inches from my waist but only 4 from my bum and chest.

The first 15kg lost me just three inches on my hips, nothing on the waist, and five inches on my boobs (rest came from arms, face, neck, feet etc). I’ve kept it off for years. Starting the next phase and 1kg has lost me an inch on the waist, and two around the hips.

Well done to all of you on your weight loss.

I tried the jeans on again and I could do up the button. Not the zip and there was an awful lot of me overflowing. They won't be wearable for quite some time but it was good to see an improvement on last tiime.
