Has anyone tried this and does it work? I need to lose three and a half stones.

Haven't tried this one but I've just started a diet plan that is supposed to make you loose 3 stone in 16 weeks. I wasn't sure about it in till I found out my mate had been doing it and lost 5 stone. I can give you more details if you like

radio I know a bit about the Harcombe diet and I wouldn't recommend it. Mainly because she suggests that fruit is not good. I lost 3 stone (and am maintaining) having fruit every day (on an empty stomach though) on the Paul Mackenna I Can Make You Thin way of eating, which is more sustainable IMO.

Of course we're all different and respond in varying ways to certain diets.

Yes, I lost 4 stone on Harcombe. There is a very good Facebook page if you are interested.

I lost around 3 stone on it over about 6 months, then kept it off for another 6 months. Then I moved in with a vegan who is a chef - lots of lovely food that just isn't Harcombe friendly.

I like it as a way of eating, but after lots of years on quite vegan-y food, I'm finding getting back to it quite rich and sickly. I also find that it doesn't really suit a family that well, especially a family with vegans in it. It's also pretty restrictive to eat out on.

It's fine but pretty restrictive and hard to do if you are vegetarian. Also not 100% convinced by the so-called rigorous science behind it. I think the fact that it is so restrictive means that most people won't stick to it as it is not that enjoyable.
I also don't agree with the fact that it does not recommend exercise. Exercise is vital for good health.
