Yet another weightloss thread: just started SW. Goal to lose 5 stone - eek!

Been overweight all my life but am now classed as 'obese' for the first time in my life and feel awful. I've always been bigger but hourglass shaped and physically fit, but stopped the HIIT workours during pregnancy and went a bit mad after finally getting over the morning sickness and gained 2 stone. Baby is now 8 weeks old and I feel flabby and want to be happy with my body again.

So yesterday, I started Slimming World. It was worse than I thought - 15st 13.5lbs. Yikes. I'm 5'8.5" so that puts me at a BMI of 33.9 and part of me hates myself for letting it get this bad, but the other part knows I can make the changes and I CAN be healthy and happy.

Goals:-
14st by Christmas - puts me back to being overweight rather than obese. Not great but an improvement.
11st by August 2018, my baby's first birthday, and a healthy BMI of 23.8

Anyone with a similar amount to lose and want to motivate each other? Grin (hopeful grin)

Come over to the Slimming world chat area. There's a long running support thread there.

I've lost my baby weight with sw, I'm almost at target now and have lost 46.5lb! I was hoping to be at target by my dd's birthday, but I'm still a few lb off.

Good luck!

Hi red panda- what you need is a DH who's having an affair- I lost a stone just like that! Anyway you don't want that at all so I suggest pictures of thin person inside fridge, notes around the house saying don't eat that choc bar and going for a 10 min walk each day- usually people start with too much , cut down slowly . Good luck ! 👍

Yep. I'm very tall (nearly 6 foot) and have a similar amount to lose. Doing SW (old skool green days only as veggie) from home. Good luck!

Just to say you absolutely can do this...I’ve lost 3 stone with SW in six months. Gone from a size 16 to a 10/12. And I didn’t stay to the meetings Grin good luck.

Just wanted to also say you can do this!

I have very similar stats to you. I'm a smidge under 5'9 and my highest weight was 15.5 stone back in April (BMI 33). I am also hourglass (particularly narrow waist and hefty hips) I hadn't really realised how much weight was slowly piling on - I think being on the taller side it can creep on without us noticing until too late!

I've lost 25lbs since then just by logging my calories on My Fitness Pal (typically 1650 cals per day) and cutting back on takeaways and eating out. I haven't deprived myself, just looked at portions and tried to cook from scratch most of the time.

I'm only half way there, though - want to get to 11.5 stone (about BMI 23ish for me too) But I think by doing it slow and steady, I won't go back to old habits!

Good luck, you've got this Smile

Shocker2017 ouch, really sorry to hear about the affair... but hey, you're looking hot now right?! He's an idiot.

bigbin that's amazing, I'd love to be there in 6 months. I've always been a 14-16, currently more like an 18 though and feeling very unhappy. Goal is to be a 12. Smile

Yazoop congrats on the amazing weight loss! I also definitely need to cut back on the takeaways and eating out, for money reasons as well as health. Wow very similar body types then, my hips are my real problem area, I really struggle to find dresses and skirts unless they stretch because they're so much wider than my waist!

Thanks for all the support. 3 days into slimming world and feeling very motivated and pleased so far!
Today breakfast was oats (HEB) with Müller coconut yogurt and berries, lunch was jacket potato, beans, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes, made some crispy kale as a snack (surprisingly nice!) and dinner is going to be meatballs with tomato sauce and pasta.

Hi there, I also have 5 stones to lose and am aiming for a size 12. I'm a bit lighter than you, but then I'm also significantly shorter!

I'm not signing up for a diet as such, I know what I need to do, but I need to stay organised with food (work hours can be silly).

You can do this! (so can I...)

Good luck both of you!

How tall are you @caremummy 1200 cal seems super low, especially if you're going to be working out!

Lost 1.5lbs this week, and that's with having a Chinese takeaway (oops). I'm happy with that as I'm breastfeeding so don't expect huge losses as I have to have lots more milk and cheese to keep up my supply, which are both quite high calorie. If I can keep up 1-2lbs a week that's a stone at least by Christmas, yay!

Ah fair enough! I wasn't trying to criticise btw, I'm just terrible at calorie counting as it is and my goal is usually 1700 or so but I am tall. Different things work for different people so good luck with it, you'll do great Smile
