Hey!
So basically I'm 5'2 & usually around 9st 5lbs.
Since coming off the pill early August I've jumped up to 10 stone 8lbs. I have no idea how I've got to it as my eating habits have not changed at all 😧 I'm wondering if the pill kept me balanced tbh.
Anyway!

I'm terrible at dieting and in all honesty I'm stuck on where to begin. Even basic things like what to have for breakfast etc!
My best friend has just lost 16lbs and she looks amazing! I'm so jealous Grin so she's helping me out too but I know the support on MN is priceless so I'd love to hear all your stories and the way you did it.

Thankyou!

I did it using my fitness pal. Logged everything and stuck to 1200 calories a day, with a few extra if I did a workout. Lost a stone since starting in May.

I'm the same height as you OP and my advice would be don't eat a massive Sunday lunch like I just have!

My fitness pal. Or just writing it down. I became accountable and couldn't just sneak a biscuit from the fridge and forget about it because I had to log it. I lost a stone and a half.. I am aiming to lose another half a stone now.

I'm 5'3'' and lost 2st on weight watchers. What WW app is pretty much MFP but foods have 'points' values as opposed to calories, adjusting up for saturated fat, sugar (incl carbs) and down for protein, so not soley calories.
So either way boils down to monitoring and logging intake.

I've never been a salad person, hardly ate any during WW, so very quickly learned what substitutions I could make food wise to use up fewer points, thus saving more for treats wine. E.g. Pikelets instead of crumpets, shreddies were the best cereal.
Warburtons bagel thins, so much better than 2slices of white bread somehow.
Tuna is very good you can have loads for barely any points. I'd make a huge Tupperware box of it with light mayo and bulked up with chopped cucumber/celery/onion and use as a filling for sandwiches, baked potato, mix with pasta.
Tea was relatively easy as cuts of meat are fine esp chicken and fish with veg is what I'd normally have.
Jaffa cakes instead of digestives. Walkers French fries crisps and hookah oops puft are best crisps. Milky Way crispy rolls for chocolate.
Some surprising things like baked beans & Miller lights that I thought would be good actually aren't that brilliant (sugar).

Good luck

I'm no good at diets, or rather I can't really be bothered with one, but I have lost a stone and a half since May by exercising. I was sedentary but now walk a minimum of 10k steps a day, often nearer 20k, and included in that is a 20-30 minute cardio workout (usually cross trainer at the gym). I got a FitBit in July which is really motivating, and the mental health benefits have been huge for me. My food intake is healthy-ish I'd say - I cook from scratch and eat lots of fish and chicken and not much red meat/processed food and I only really drink water or milk - but I do have a Freddo a day Blush and if I want a Big Mac I don't hesitate or feel guilty afterwards. Currently at the top of my healthy weight BMI bracket and feel much better, it remains to be seen whether I keep losing or if I'll need to change my diet in order to continue.

Low carb high fat. I've been eating this way for a month and have lost 12lbs and 2.5 inches off my waist. Never hungry, in fact my appetite has decreased. I've been trying to lose this weight since the beginning of 2013 - done slimming world, calorie counting, even had a personal trainer who helped me with food too - nothing worked.

8 weeks seeing trainer three times a week and sticking to their low fat low carb high protein plan, doing lots of resistance and cardio and I lost 2lbs and and an inch of my waist. 4 weeks of low carb high fat and I've lost 6x as much weight....
I can't imagine ever going back to eating the way I used to.

Thanks everyone!

I'm looking at getting a Fitbit when we've paid the deposit on the new house and have some extra money (we move in a month)

Gonna definitely do 10,000+ steps & stick to protein based meals with no snacking if I can.
I'm pescatarian so I eat some fish (literally a few times a year, not often) but no meat. At least Tuna will help me bulk out meals without having to feel guilty!
