Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2017 19:56

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

I would like to join you. I am going to make Wednesday my weigh in days. I am around 12 stone at the moment which is far too heavy for someone my height (5ft 4").
I will use mfp to calorie track.
A stressful year led to me gaining weight (though was too heavy at the start point). Mentally i am beginning to feel stronger. I hope in turn that I can now address the weight.

Me please.

I've been overweight for years but got pregnant with DS last summer, broke my leg badly in January, was immobile, developed a bad Mini Eggs habit, had DS by Cs in March, then before I knew it I was 14st 6 when he was 8 weeks. Half heartedly dieted down to 14 st 1 in June then got into 5:2 (and started getting more mobile) and am currently 12st13. I would like to lose a stone before I go back to work in January. I am on the 5:2 thread but it is good to have somewhere to post in more general terms. Oh I'm 5'8" and have a 3 year old DD as well.

Can I sign in. This is week 2 of weight loss for me.
I started out at 12 stone 5lb and I've lost 2.4 lb this week.

I'm calorie counting and I've cut out all snacks. My goal weight is 10 stone so a long way to go. If I could shift a stone by Christmas I'd be delighted.

I'm going to weigh in on Sundays

Week 1 - 173 lbs
Week 2 - 170.6 lbs

I'd like to join too please. I've been really slowly loosing since last year and have been struggling over the summer with a busted knee.
I'm 5'2.5" and 10st7.75lb. Re-started dancing in the new term and can finally start running again too. Using MFP to attempt to keep to 1200 calories.

Oh can i join?

I do slimming world, but the sp plan that is lowish carb (mainly no processed ones), no muller lights etc. I do it because a friend from work goes and it keeps us both motivated to go together.

I want to lose 4 stone. All togetger and people tell me to just worry about the next week or next half stone. But that doesnt work for me. Looking to my target is too much. But looking to the next 14 weeks sounds like a good target.

My weigh in is thursday evening.

B - melon and greek yog at work
L - butternut squash, tom puree, lactofree cheese and spices (sounds shit but is gorgeous)
D - not planned yet.

I struggle with lunches at work. I eat the same, nearly, everyday because i cant be arsed thinking of what to make and when i do i cant come up with anything.

Hi
I'd love to join. I really need to lose about 2 stone but a stone by Christmas would be a start.

I'm a humungous 11:13 at the moment. None of my clothes fit me properly. Blush

The only diet that consistently works for me is low carb so I will start that today. Fingers crossed

I'm on board. Been doing SW since end of June and lost 18lb so far. I've got another 30 that I'd like to lose so 14lb by xmas would be great.

Like PP I do mainly SP but as I'm bfing DS2 I can eat lots of cheese so don't feel too deprived. I also miss carbs a lot less than I thought I would which is was a very pleasant surprise!

Ooh! Friends Grin Welcome everyone. I was a bit worried nobody would want to join me!

I will be putting my daily meals on, though after I've eaten them, as I found that helped me keep track before.

I started back at work earlier this year, which didn't help with the losing weight. I actually found it easier whilst I was off on maternity leave. I work in the city centre with easy access to shops selling lots of sweets, crisps and chocolate, and since starting back I have gotten back into the habit of having a drawer full.

Currently, I have a big bag of Kettles crisps, some jelly babies and strawberry pencils. I'm in two minds whether to just leave them in there to eat as part of my daily allowance, or bin them. In fact, I've just binned the crisps. It's not unheard of for me to eat a family sized bag within the space of 24 hours. I need to remove that temptation completely.

Just the thread I needed!

I have put almost a stone on since mid july. Lost about 3st doing sw over the last 18 months or so but got to an almost healthy bmi then stalled. School holidays, a weeks all inclusive food, lots of picnics and too much alcohol has crept on.

Started half heartedly dieting last week but didn't stick to it at the weeknd.

I need to reduce simple carbs drastically. And the wine/gin/lager. And move much more.

Starting weight on my scales is 12st 4.5lbs. Would love to have a stone off by 13th December as we go away!

Todays plan.

Tuna mayo and tomato sandwich
Bag of bacon fries (not a great start!)

Jacket potato, salad, possibly a couple of chicken wings. Or more tuna.

No gin for me tonight. I will miss that more than food but I need to give my liver a rest.

Penguin The great thing about these types of threads is that you do what works for you, be that MFP, SW or whatever.

I plan to do a weekly weight-in at the gym on a Sunday, but I will probably also weigh myself unofficially at home with my scales during the week. They come out at about 2lb less than the scales at the gym because they broke when I stepped on them last year, causing me to join the original thread Blush , but still give me a general idea of 'loss' or 'gain'.

I struggled with SW, because I just used to cheat and eat too many Syns. With MFP, because it's on my phone, I keep track of everything I eat. It also caused me to reduce my carbs and swap them for veggies, which I've maintained. My problem now is just snacks.

I meal plan, and it's something I swear by generally but especially when trying to lose weight. I found doing a recap on MN at the end of the day of what I'd eaten and how the day had gone, really useful for me to keep track, and also to look back on if I had a hiccup later down the line.

Ooo please could I join you?

I am on week 2 of my latest weight loss attempt. I have allowed over a stone to creep on in the last 3 months so I need to take action before it gets any worse!

I'm 5ft 4 and 11st 6.5 today. I need to lose way more than 14lbs but if I can get that much off by Christmas I will be delighted!

I'm mainly trying to cut down what I eat massively. I'm eating only dinner (though if I felt really hungry I will cave!) and trying to watch how many carbs I eat. That's the hard bit because I am a pasta / noodles / rice fiend!

I'm in. Started about 3 weeks ago, but need some motivation to stick at it and not fall off the wagon.

Am 5ft 8, and was 11st7 when I started, now down to 11st3. Would like to reach 10st7...

I'm counting calories on MFP, avoiding snacks and have just joined a gym. Also need to cut down the Wine - but have a few social engagements on the horizon too...

Me please!

I'm massive. And I struggle to stick with healthy eating/exercise plans for more than about 6 weeks - I either start to congratulate myself with food for doing so well, or, I give up because it's not working. There's probably some deep seated psychological reason why I self sabotage, but, I have very little interest in figuring it out, would far rather just eat better and move more as a permanent lifestyle change.

Am 14.13, which is about 5 stones overweight.

If I got to 12 I'd be fucking delighted. Would love to be 13 something in time for Santa coming.

Oh, and, if you lose 1lb a week for a year, that's 4 stones. Good to know.

I've joined so many of these threads this year and have fallen off them all within a week. I'm really need to lose this stone before Christmas because I'm feeling really down about it. In reality I'd be happy with 1.5 stone but the stone would be good. Can I join. Weighed in this morning at 10st 8 and I'm short too so officially in the overweight category. I do a good share of exercise but I have been eating junk for a while now. Like about two years.
Good luck every one.
