Recommendations for 'manly' healthy meals

My DH is looking to lose a few pounds (he's overweight but certainly not in the obese category yet).

However, he doesn't like diets, organised exercise or 'health' foods (quinoa is considered a swear word). Hmm

I do the majority of the cooking so I was just hoping to be a bit mindful of ingredients and portion sizes and was looking for recommendations of recipes that don't scream 'diet' but are healthy.

Does anyone have any recipe recommendations? I've heard the hairy dieter books are good but maybe a bit prep-heavy.

Ta!

The Slimming World diet would suit him. Dinners could include pasta, rice, potatoes etc and you can eat as much of them as you like. Just two slices of wholemeal bread per day and lowish fat eg cheese, but as much meat as you like.

Thanks, I'll look into Slimming World, the idea of lots of meat will certainly appeal.
I know he won't go for the full diet approach but if I can get our home meals to be more planned and healthy it will help.

Basically on SW you can eat unlimited meat, vegetables, rice, pasta and potatoes. He could eat that twice a day if he liked.

It's cutting down on bread, sugar and alcohol that all diets have in common. Most accept now that fats are good, especially olive oils etc.

I've had a look at the SW website and was really surprised at how 'normal' the meals look.

Thanks for the tip about bread. A slice or two of toast does seem to be his go-to snack of choice, so if he does that every day, I can see that he can easily eat a loaf of bread more than me every week.

I don't think the booze over the holidays helped either!

My dh has lost 3.5 stone by eating eggs for breakfast, a sandwich and soup for lunch and a meal from the hairy dieters cook books. I can't recommend them enough.

Wow - that's an incredible amount to lose with three decent meals a day. He must be chuffed to bits!
