Anyone tried slimfast?

I've been known to grab one of their milkshakes when in a rush and have no time for breakfast.
Was reading the bottle the other day and the diet plan on the side looks fiddly easy-two milkshakes/meal replacement bars, 3 snacks (either their snacks, fruit or veg) a day and one 600kal or less meal a day.
Sounds fairly easy but does it actually work? I have 6 weeks ans would like to loose around a stone.

I decided last week to give it a try and found for me, personally, I was just too hungry having two shakes back to back. I was counting down the minutes until tea time as I just wasn't anywhere near full on the shakes. I've decided to go for very low cal lunch/breakfast instead.

I lost 3 stone pre children on slimfast.
Then had kids and put it all back on.
I should try it again!
It worked for me alongside making sure evening meal was healthy and exercising more.
I found it helped to drink a large glass of water after the shake - maybe it helps the fibre to swell??

Worked for me and I loved the shakes and simplicity of it. I lost a stone then stopped, I went back in it this week to try and get another stone off.

I used it to kick start a large amount of weightloss. After a month or so I transferred onto straightforward calorie counting with my fitness pal.

Pros
It works
You get a break from food. Literally not having to think about food at the start was fab.
You only have weigh and measure food for one meal

Cons
You will be hungry
Doesn't teach you to modify your habits so more inclined to put it back on after.
It doesn't take much exercise before you end up underfuelling the body. That can be jolly unpleasant. (Why mfp is so goo)

In short it has its place but have an alternate exit plan, do just come straight back to regular diet

Going on a childfree all inclusive holiday so wanted to get to a size I look okay in a swimsuit next to my stick thin friends so chances are I'll put it all back on in food/alcohol by the end of the week Blush.
The only exercise I do is walking to/from work so not to worries about underfuelling.

How long roughly does it take to see some weight loss?

If you stick to it it's rougly 2lbs a week weightloss. So roughly a stone every two months. More if you are overweight and little less as you reach ideal weight. I was really overweight when I started but in my case I noticed a difference at half a stone, (about two-three weeks... did I mention I was really overweight) family and friends at a stone, strangers at the gym were stopping and congratulating me at 2 stone. (Stopped slimfast at about a stone) lost about 6 stone in total (about a stone of that twice after holidays)

I think your set of circumstances are the ones that it works best for losing a little bit for a special occasion or compensating for a period of planned indulgence. That and jump starting a long term diet.

It is not enough calories if you are also exercising.

I really appreciated the noodles "snacks". On really hungry days I had these for dinner with a bit of salad saved from my "meal" calories. Effectively gave me an extra "meal". I also liked the cafe latte premade shakes as they helped my rampant coffee addiction.

Actually if your after a visual effect, unless they are already good, getting your stomach muscles working i think can be as effective as about half a stone weightloss. Especially if you improve your posture at the same time (nothing scientific to back this up just my experience). Sit ups, wii fit, pilates all awesome for this

It didn't work for me be because I ended up so hungry I would eat a normal meal a few hours after my slimfast meal. No self control here Blush

On day 14 of slim fast and lost 18lb.

I've had 2 shakes a day and a 600kcal healthy meal. And one slimfast snack a day too, and sucked sugar free polos.

I've made sure I've had 2 litres of water a day. Along with a morning coffee and 3 cups of tea in the day/evening.

Also done 10k steps a day (most days more.)
