Low carb and low cal - shouldn't be this easy?

Hi all

I'm on day 4 of a lowish carb (under 80g a day) AND low cal eating plan (under 1500 a day - averaged 1300 so far) and I'm finding it bizarrely easy... I'm also doing 10:12 IF so that may be helping. Here's an average day:

Breakfast- lunch: black coffee and water
Lunch: 4x eggs, tsp butter, 40g smoked salmon
Snack of an apple or a carrot
Dinner: loads of (roasted in a bit of olive oil) veg, chicken. Sometimes a bit of cheese

I had a glass of wine today which brought me up to 1500 but I'm a bit confused as to how I'm finding this so easy... I've lost 3kg of what is most likely water weight and although overweight to start with (BMI 28) I was eating total shit. High fat high carb no veg.

Why is this so easy so far?! I'm not hungry at all... should I count my blessings?! Or is there something wrong with me? I'm weighing everything and if anything overcompensating for cals so I'm not overeating by any stretch

Done 1300 today and whilst I could have eaten more I'm not screaming out for it

Hi. It's interesting for your main meal you are having lots of veg and chicken. At least five nights a week I have steamed Broccoli, Carrots, Cauliflower, Green Beans and Spinach with either two pieces of chicken breast or two pieces of fish, and lots of potatoes. The potatoes and veg I usually cover in spread. It never occurred to me to not have any potatoes at all with my evening meal. Maybe this is where I am going wrong? I eat healthily [ except for the chocolate] but I eat huge portions. The pieces of chicken or fish have to be placed on the top of the potatoes and vegetables, as there is no room on the plate next to them.Trying to reduce the amount I eat to see if it will help. It should do, hopefully. How much are you trying to lose?

You eat higher carb than me, but I've always found low carbing easy - it was a revelation! Once you put thoughts of bread, biscuits, cake etc. out of your head (and after all, they're the 'carrier' foods for stuff that actually tastes of something), then what's not to like about eating fish, meat, cheese and eggs, plus loads of low carb veg - also berries in season, cream, all the good stuff! Today I've had a slice of low carb pizza (base made from cream cheese, eggs and cream) and that was around 1 pm - now not in the slightest bit hungry, though am planning on doing a Thai fish curry later on.

I think that once you control your insulin/blood sugar spikes and dips, then you don't get hungry like you do when you're eating carbs, which turn to glucose. Best of luck with your weight loss efforts - it's lovely when it's not a struggle, isn't it?

I think it's early days

You'll get bored
You'll find it difficult to socialise

Saying that, I lost 5 stone following lc diet, so I guess it can be called 'easy'
