*Deep Breath* I need to lose weight

I've got to do this.
Have been stressed out the past year with my masters course - eating badly because it's more convenient, eating junk and treats because I'm working hard and "deserve" them. Just finished my exams, and of course I was constantly rewarding myself with crap all through the revision period.
Staying at a friend's tonight - they have scales in their bathroom (something I don't have at home) and I weighed myself for the first time in ages. I was shocked, but I don't know why because I feel too heavy and already knew I was in bad shape - my wardrobe has become more and more limited as I'm avoiding the things which no longer fit me or flatter. Seeing the numbers only confirmed it.
Where do I start?! I think it's clear I'm an emotional eager at times, a bored eater at times... I feel like I have no will power, and I hate feeling like I've got to a place where I don't feel in control about food.
I feel so disgusted with myself and like I don't even know where to begin.
How can I just get started? I feel I need to see results quickly to be motivated. I've never dieted before and just don't know what to do.

Hello, i have been using an app called nutracheck which has helped me lose about 7 kg in 10 weeks. After the first week or so i felt better, and now enjoy counting the calories! It's really motivating once you start seeing steady loss. Good luck!

Congratulations on your masters, that's a massive achievement! When I did a post grad years ago it was so full on, exercise and diet were definitely at the bottom of the list of priorities.

What type of diet appeals to you? Sw and ww offer good support and are fairly easy to follow, but it's about £5 a week.

Lots on here calorie count with my fitness pal, an app you can download. I can't be doing with weighing and measuring and calorie counting myself, but lots get on with that.

I'm with you OP. I had the "moment" earlier this week - enough is enough. I'm sick of feeling this way!

I just started this week with my fitness pal. I am properly overweight which means I am allowed more calories for now ! It has however just made me much more aware of what I am eating, making healthier choices etc. I haven't changed what I eat much but it makes me look at portion sizes , Think if I really need that snack etc also change some carb heavy but not filling meals ( white bread toast etc ) to more wholegrain type ones - currently at the not eating as much as tastes revolting stage ( tofu and quinoa anyone... ). I am aware of quite how much junk I was unconsciously eating as I feel I am actively withdrawing at times. Just need to push through it !!
