I have been given a GP referral for the gym but the gym have a 6 week wait! I'm desperate to get started but feel everything against me. I have put on the weight over the last few years and im now at my heaviest at 20 stone and feel so bad about myself. I'm going to join slimmingworld on Friday after dropping dd at school and hopefully shed some weight in the 6 weeks before i start the gym. Please pass on any tips I'm just so down about my size and feel everything is piling up on me. Also anyone have any idea what a size 24 woman should wear to the gym ?
I started at the gym in Feb. I felt really unfit to start with. While you are waiting you could start walking for as long as you can. When I started I found even walking on the treadmill hard work as I was so inactive! You could also look at some YouTube exercise videos. Any exercise you do will help.
I wear jogging bottoms and a t-shirt to the gym and feel comfortable.
Good for you. Have you done slimming world before? It's really simple to follow you'll love it.
As for what to wear at the gym - anything comfy! Leggings and a longline vest work for me. Starting a gym can be intimidating but try to remember that everyone else is concentrating on their own work out and won't be worrying about you. If they offer you an induction take it as it's a great chance to get to grips with the equipment. Try and find out what you enjoy as you're more like to stick at it.
Well done for making the step. Nothing can hold you back now if you put your mind to it!
I'll have a go at walking to get my fitness level up a bit that's a very good suggestion thank you.
No I haven't done slimmingworld before but I did do weight watchers and didn't enjoy the latest version of it. I wish they would stop messing with it.
I think slimming world is simpler than WW, although I've not done WW since my late teens. You can get loads of recipes for free on Pinterest.
