Had a slice of wholemeal toast with a little butter and peanut butter, an orange and a cup of tea this morning at 7am. Had a banana and a small milky coffee (semi skimmed) at 9.30 when I got into work. Got a headache and want my lunch already. As the title says.... HELP!

For background I'm just over 12st and 5'4. Lost a few pounds already. Would like to get to 10/10.5 st to be healthy bmi. Problem is I can't be very active at the moment as I'm having quite sever back/pelvis/scatica issues. Am doing some physio but can't do cardio the moment. Trying to eat about 1500 cals a day and be as healthy as possible. But I get really hungry some days. During the week I usually manage ok or just over but weekends are hard. Smile

Maybe try upping your protein. I feel starving by lunch time if I've just had carbs for breakfast. I usually have one of those arla pots of protein yogurt for breakfast with chia seeds and strawberries on top. Or I'll sometimes have eggs. Never feel very hungry before lunch now

go and get a pint of water, quick smart!

agree protein breakfasts are a good thing though; put scrambled egg on that toast next time

If you want to lose weight but can't be too active then I'd recommend cutting down on your fruit intake as things like bananas are very carby. My weight loss was incredibly slow when I first started, and I was eating bananas, pineapple and satsumas throughout the day. I now only have one small portion of fruit each day (usually some Apple slices and a handful of berries) and the weight is coming off faster.

Dont' have fruit at all, there's too much sugar in. Do have fat and protein, and keep the carbs minimal. try 2 eggs and 2 rashers of bacon for breakfast, it should keep you satiated.

Not sure if you're at work or home, but keep busy and distract yourself. Drink water.

I eat eggs everyday. I lost 4 stone on Slimming World. My breakfast most mornings consists of eggs (scrambled or poached) a small slice of wholemeal toast and some tomatoes anf mushrooms. I am never hungry before lunch.

low carb does work very well.
but if you're not into it id have sliced veggies, green smoothies, water, herbal teas, fat free pop corn.
also i think its odd you have butter AND peanut butter?
you could also drink veg soup (home made)?

Ok took some paracetamol for the head and drinking a big bottle of water. Thanks for advice. Would love eggs for breakfast but not sure I can manage eggs in the mornings, on work days especially, have to get little ones ready and out by myself. But like the idea of the yoghurt with seeds etc. Trying to concentrate on work and this is also a good distraction. Thank you!

Sugarbeep it's something my mum did and I now find toast so dry without the butter and boring without something else too. It's only a little of both but know it's a bad habit Grin

Lidl do something called Skyr which is an Icelandic protein yoghurt and also a big bag of 'Alesto' Super seed mix. The seed mix is quite fine and powdery so very palatable and you just need a sprinkle.

I take both of those t with a slice of chicken breast for breakfast as I'm not into eggs.

When anything is 'dry' I am taking a dollop of this Skyr stuff as it is fat free.

BIWI s low carb boot camp has just started. Why not look at that?

Ok, managed to hold off till 12. Had a tuna wrap and some veggies I made at home. Feeling better now. All suggestions noted. I am trying to reduce carbs and will have a look at the low carb boot camp. At home tomorrow so will make some veggie soup and maybe even try some eggs for breakfast. New to mumsnet and that was the first thread I've started. Thanks for support. It really helps!

Way to go!

Home made lunches are also much cheaper so you are winning on two fronts...

Butter and peanut butter on toast is great together! My DM put butter with Nutella on toast, horrendous!

OP, if you are going low carb, you need to make sure that you up your fat intake. You can't live off steamed vegetables. You can have a silly amount of fat if you are seriously low carb. I get through a pack of butter a week these days, and I also have lots of mayonnaise, cream etc. I have no bread, potatoes, rice or pasta. I eat lots of greens. Some meat. And I have a BMI of 19 now.

How about smoked salmon and avocado?

I would choose Greek yoghurt over Skyr. it's got more fat in, and is tastier.

You might want to consider giving 16:8 a go. Basically you eat for 8 hours a day and fast for the rest- you can choose your 8 hours.
Itmay seem countr productive but I've found it has really helped me. I used to eat breakfast early before work like you, and then be starving all morning and eat loads. Since doing this (my 'eating window' is 10.00am-6pm) and not having breakfast early, I've found that actually I just don't get hungry in the morning. Breakfast kickstarts your hunger so if yu don't have it until later you don't get as hungry! I now have breakfast or healthy snack at 10.00 at work, then lunch as normal and avoid the wanting to eat loads all morning. Has helped me.
Bear in mind if you want to lose weight on it you still do need to watch what you eat- but it has helped with the morning cravings.
